the marathon


i'm planning on running the marathon with my sister lizard and my cousin sally, so i call my sister every night to ask about training. i've been running off and on for years now and i'm just returning from an off spell. i found a 16 week training schedule and just need to stick to it. i can do it!

completed training

monday january 5: four miles easy.

tuesday january 6: cross training, 1550 yds swimming.

wednesday january 7: two miles easy, not far enough.

thrusday january 8: rest day.

friday january 9: missed workout, went out with friends instead.

tuesday january 20: inversion hit utah-can't stand to go outside, let alone run through the souppy smog. i think i may plan to run the portland marathon instead. it will give me more real time to train and i won't have kill my lungs in the process. karate practice: 1.5 hours.

thursday january 22: karate, 1.5 hours.

saturday january 24: karate, 2 hours.

tuesday january 27: karate, 1.5 hours.

thursday january 29: karate, 2 hours.

saturday january 31: karate, 2 hours.

tuesday february 3: karate, 1 hour.

saturday february 7: karate, 2 hours.

tuesday february 10: karate, 1.5 hours.

thursday february 12: karate 1.5 hours.

saturday february 14: karate, 30 minutes.

gee, i really don't seem to be doing much running. i need to hype it up if i'm ever going to run in a marathon. and i've always wanted to do that. and besides i'm really starting to feel like i'm putting on weight living at home again with my family and all that free food.

tuesday february 17: karate, 1 hour
