The Rev. Elmer DAUGHERTY
A pastor for area Baptist churches

The Rev. Elmer Daugherty, 86, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Cumberland Medical Center of Crossville.
Born Nov. 20, 1916, in Devonia, he was the son of James Daugherty and Ella
SEIBER Daugherty. He lived in Oliver Springs for the past 56 years. He was an area pastor who preached at Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Rocky Hill Baptist Church, Big Mountain Baptist Church and Royal Blue Baptist Church. He was also a coal miner, working in many area coal mines.
He is survived by two sons, David Daugherty and his wife, Jan, of Crossville, and Jerry Daugherty and his wife, Leta, of Cedar Hill, Texas; five daughters, Ella May Birchfield of Lake City, Elizabeth Rayder and her husband, James of Oliver Springs, Zelma Booth and her husband, Sid, of Knoxville, Wilma Smith and her husband, Paul, of Columbus, Ga., and Wanda Hutton and her husband, Dave of New Market; two sisters, Spicey Duncan of Oliver Springs and Aleen Massengill of Clinton; 25 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eula Mae Daugherty; a son, James Daugherty; and two grandsons, Greg Smith and Jerry Kelley Jr.
The funeral will be 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Tinker officiating. The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Cora V. Duncan, 77, a lifelong resident of the Frost Bottom Community of Anderson County, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003.  The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at Friendly Welcome Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve

Archie Lee PATTERSON
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II

Archie Lee Patterson, 81, of Coalfield, formerly of New River, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at his home.
Born May 20, 1921, in Devonia, he lived most of his life in New River, moving to Coalfield two years ago.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was discharged in 1946 as a combat infantryman with two Bronze Stars.
Mr. Patterson worked for the railroads for 42 years. He was first employed by Tennessee Railroad in 1941 and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1983.
He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Smith of Coalfield, Bobbie
SEIBER of Marietta, Ga., and Shirley E. Spurlock of Oliver Springs; son, Lawrence Edward Patterson and wife, Brenda, of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, Gregory L. Patterson, Everett L. Carroll, Michael Bruce Carroll, Patricia A. Kennedy, Dova M. Fletcher, Jerry L. Carroll, Gary Bunch, Robbie Christmas, Melina Black, Christine Runyan, Stephen E. Moore, Melissa R. Moore, Surinda L. Bunch, Diane L. Speed, Larry Edward Patterson, Eddie Lynn Patterson and Andy Williams; 33 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Patterson and Margie B. Johnson, both of Oak Ride; and brother, James A. Patterson of Devonia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byrd Richard Patterson and Octavia Day Patterson; wife, Lucille Jeffers Patterson; granddaughter, Darla Sides; grandson, Billy Ray Moore; three brothers, Julian, Gene Edward and Willie Ray Patterson; stepmother, Martha J. Cook Patterson; stepfather, Sherman A. Brown; and stepson, James Edward Williams.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Ralph Nance officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Anderson Memorial Gardens. A full military Honor Guard service will be conducted at the cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Harold SEIBER, 61, a resident of Wayne, Mich., and formerly of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at his home.
Born May 17, 1941, in Oliver Springs, he was the son of Sabe
SEIBER and Maudie Brashears SEIBER, who are both now deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
A resident of Michigan since 1968, he worked as a truck driver for Ryder since moving to Michigan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Elizabeth Ayers.

SEIBER is survived by two daughters, Tina SEIBER of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Sheila Archer of Briceville; a son, Harold Kelley and his wife, Debra, of Oliver Springs; and 10 grandchildren, Courtney SEIBER, Antonio SEIBER, Keyanna SEIBER, Andre Doss, Shannon Doss, Leslie Kelley, Alex Kelley, Scott Archer, Jessica Archer and Patricia Archer.
He is also survived by two brothers, James Claude "J.C."
SEIBER and his wife, Darlene, of Cinebar, Wash., and Van SEIBER of Oliver Springs; and by a sister, Betty McCarroll and her husband, Doug, of Harriman.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Mack Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Oliver Springs Cemetery.

Lifelong resident of Anderson County

Alice Faye Smith, 56, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Born Nov. 29, 1946, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Gracie Phillips Bunch of Briceville and Wayne Bunch, now deceased.
A homemaker and lifelong resident of Anderson County, she was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Lawerence
SEIBER Jr., two brothers, William Edward Bunch and Roy Hobert Bunch, and by an uncle and aunt, Hobert Phillips and Bessie Phillips.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Scott Smith; her daughter, Tina Vanee Sammons and her husband, Terry, of Sunbright; four sons, Jimmy Ray Smith and his wife, Theresa, of Knoxville, Lawerence
SEIBER and his wife, Rhonda, of Clinton, and Leroy SEIBER and his wife, Tammy, and Franklin John SEIBER, all of Oliver Springs; and 11 grandchildren, Dewayne, Jason, Carrie, Ashley, Cody, Christopher, Paula, Drake, Kevin, Dylan and Kyler.
She is also survived by four sisters and a brother, Anna Bell Braden, Nellie Phillips and Mary Elizabeth Randolph, all of Briceville, Ruby Jane Phillips of Clinton, and Charles Edmond Bunch of Harriman; aunts and uncles, Bonnie and Homer Breeden, Dollie and Hover Green and Maxine Phillips; and by several nieces and nephews.

Gerald Allen Henderson, 48, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at his residence.
The son of Charles and Lois Wilcox Henderson, he was born Oct. 30, 1954, in Anderson County. He was a member of Farmers Grove Baptist Church and had worked as a bias cutter for Carlisle Industries in Clinton. His hobbies included fishing and camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Adam Wright.
Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife, Renada Henderson; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Wallace of Clinton; a brother and sister-in-law, Donny and Carolyn Henderson of Clinton; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sis and Will Reagan of Sevierville, and Pat and Willard Wright, Anne and Joe
SEIBER and Linda Jackson and fianc�e, Lynn Collier, all of Clinton; and by several nieces and nephews.
Lewis Winters of Knoxville was considered a special friend.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Chris Thomas officiating.

Ralph Elmer REDMON
WWII veteran

Ralph Elmer Redmon, 82, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, April 14, 2003, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
He was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Morgan County, the son of the late Murruel Redmon and Anna Bardill Redmon.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Redmon retired from Union Carbide Corp./Y-12 plant where he was a salvage yard keeper. He was a member of Beech Park Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, the Disabled American Veterans and Faith Masonic Lodge No. 756 of Oak Ridge. Mr. Redmon had worked the election commission voting polls at Norwood Elementary School since 1955. His hobbies included fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Bryson Redmon, and by a brother, Russell Redmon.
He is survived by two sons, Cecil Redmon of Oliver Springs and Paul Redmon and his wife, Nancy, of Kingston; a brother, Allen Redmon of Wartburg; a sister, Ruth Bullens of Wartburg; grandchildren, Brandy Redmon of Kingston, Lora-Leigh Redmon Moneymaker of Knoxville and Leann Redmon of Los Alamos, N.M.; great-grandchildren, Benita Vigorito and Teddy Moneymaker; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Daniel B. and Sue Braden and Bruce and Michelle
SEIBERS and family, all of Oliver Springs.
A Masonic service will be at 8 p.m.,Wednesday, April 16, 2003, led by members of Faith Masonic Lodge No. 756. The funeral will follow at 8:15 p.m. with the Rev. Robbie Leach officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 17, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be in the form of contributions to Beech Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 519 West Tri-County Blvd., Oliver Springs, TN 37840. Marie Horton HATMAKER
Retired Anderson County teacher

Marie Horton Hatmaker, 91, of Clinton, and formerly of Briceville, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter No. 226, in Lake City, for over 60 years. She also belonged to Supreme Council Order of the Amaranth for 40 years. She served as past Royal Matron for both orders and held many Grand Offices during her service.
In addition, Mrs. Hatmaker was a member of the Daughter of the Niles, and the Lake City Business & Professional Women's Club and the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association. She taught school in the Anderson County school system for 52 years. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee.
She was an unselfish woman of generosity and compassion and a leader of fund-raising efforts for many civic and charitable causes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Hobert" Hatmaker, her parents, Issac Ellis Horton Sr. and Lonia Gilliam Horton and four brothers and a sister, Milo Horton, Carl H. Horton, Issac Ellis "l. E." Horton Jr., William T. "Bill" I Horton and Arletta Rorex.
Mrs. Hatmaker is survived by two sisters, Edna Horton Hannah and Sibyle Horton
SEIBER and her husband, William "Bill," all of Clinton; her brother, Ray E. Horton of Maryville; four sisters-in-law, Jean Horton of Lake City, Anna Lou Horton of Powell, Pauline Horton of Charleston, S.C., and Jane Horton of Clinton; and by several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the caring staff at River Oaks in Lenoir City and the staff at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Brenda Poole officiating.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.

Lewis Carroll, 76, of Oliver Springs, died Friday, May 9, 2003, at Roane Medical Center of Harriman.
He was born May 15, 1926, in Campbell County, lived in Scott County for 21 years and moved to Oliver Springs in 1959. He was a retired construction worker and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Louisa Kennedy Carroll; his daughter, Julie Adell Carroll; and his brother, Robert
SEIBER.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Nina Carroll; four daughters, Edna Ruth McCarter and her husband, Steve, Regina Sue Carroll, Maria Claudell Carroll and Teresa Ann Breeden and her husband, Lawrence, all of Oliver Springs; three sons, Glenn Allen Carroll and his wife, Debbie, of Harriman, Robert Lewis Carroll and David Edward Carroll and his wife, Sharon, all of Oliver Springs; a brother, Andy Carroll, of Caryville; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was to be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2003, at Indian Creek Cemetery of Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Green officiating.

Martha K. SEIBER, 83, a resident of the Frost Bottom community of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at her home.
Born Oct. 12, 1919, in Shea, she was the daughter of Richard Kennedy and Ida Belle Byrge Kennedy, both now deceased. She was the widow of Lee V.
SEIBER.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Clifford Edward
SEIBER and Clarence Everett SEIBER, two brothers, Matt Kennedy and Hoye Kennedy, and a granddaughter, Halie Marie SEIBER.
The late Mary "Babe" Edwards was considered as a special lifelong friend.
Mrs.
SEIBER lived in the Frost Bottom community since 1939. She was a homemaker and a member of the Friendly Welcome Missionary Baptist Church. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, quilting and cooking for family and friends.
She is survived by four daughters, Bobbie J. Phillips and Linda Lively and husband, Homer, all of Oliver Springs, Brenda West and husband, James, of Rockwood, and Lisa Gail Lively and husband, Fred, of Briceville; six sons, Robert Leon
SEIBER and wife, Janice, who she considered a daughter, and Lester SEIBER, all of Oliver Springs, Hubert SEIBER and wife, Thelma, of Wartburg, and Larry SEIBER, Gary SEIBER and Eddie SEIBER and wife, Angi, all of Oak Ridge; three brothers, James Kennedy of Kingston, Luther Kennedy of Oliver Springs, and Lorance Kennedy of Lake City; three half-brothers, Steve Kennedy of Devonia, Golman Kennedy of Lake City and Harlan Kennedy of Ohio; two half-sisters, Aileene Black of Florida and Jane Brown of LaFollette; two aunts, Nellie Phillips and Lannie Duncan, both of Dutch Valley; and by 26 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mellie Bunch of Oliver Springs and Ruby Kennedy of Devonia were considered special friends.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Mark Bass officiating. The burial will follow at Frost Bottom Cemetery.
