| January 24, 2000 W.C. 'Dub' SEIBER Anderson County native W.C. "Dub" SEIBER, 48, of Lake City, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. SEIBER was born April 8, 1951, in Anderson County. He was a former employee of LTV Steel Co. in Hammond, Ind. Mr. SEIBER loved hunting and fishing, his family said. He had attended the Church of God. He is survived by his wife, Brenda SEIBER of Lake City; his son, Lawrence Wesley "Buddy" SEIBER of Indiana; two daughters, Kara Foster and her husband, Kevin, and Jennifer Gaynor, all of Indiana; and two grandchildren, Erik Foster and Emily Gaynor, both of Indiana. Mr. SEIBER is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth "Jo" Relford of Lake City; four sisters, Kay "Monk" Harness and her husband, Cliff "Shorty" Harness, Wilma Stonecipher and her husband, Charles, Leisa SEEBER and her husband, Kevin, and Darlene Gilliam and her husband, Joe, all of Lake City; and by an uncle who was considered his favorite, Bill Trail of Lake City. Teresa SEIBER of Indiana was his former wife and Ervin Kennedy of Lake City was a special friend. His father, Lawrence SEIBER, a nephew, Todd Harness, and a son-in-law, Allan Gaynor, died earlier. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. David White officiating. Russell Massengill and Larry Noe will also speak. Burial will follow at Circle Cemetery in Briceville. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Armstrong, Ted Patterson, Bobby SEIBER, Floyd Burris, Richie Martin, Teddy Burris, Billy Braswell and Kevin Foster. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the funeral home. ~~~~ January 26, 2000 Fred PHILLIPS Retired electrician Fred Phillips, 75, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Phillips, an electrician, was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union local No. 760 of Knoxville. He retired in 1982. Born Feb. 23, 1924, in Anderson County, he was the son of William and Annie Jones Phillips, who are deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Phillips had lived in this area all his life. He was a member of Beech Park Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Verna Robinson Phillips; his brother, Lonzie Phillips and his wife, Freida, of Oliver Springs; and three sisters, Mary SEIBER and her husband, Virgil, of LaFollette, Daffie SEIBER and her husband, Monroe, of Kingston and Margaret Jones and her husband, Andy, of Wartburg. Mr. Phillips is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Eula Phillips of Oak Ridge, Irene Coker and her husband, Verldon, of Oliver Springs and Laura L. Vann of Knoxville; a cousin he considered special, Gene Phillips and his wife, Linda, of Oliver Springs; and by seven nieces and four nephews. Another brother, Early Phillips, died earlier. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Mr. SEIBER is survived by his wife, Belinda Anderkin SEIBER; three children, Josh SEIBER and Miranda SEIBER, both of Berea, and Billy SEIBER of Dayton, Ohio; his mother, Louise SEIBER, of Dayton; and his brother, Danny W. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 tonight, March 15, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home. ~~~~ March 20, 2000 Charles Edward SEIBER Retired K-25 truck driver Charles Edward SEIBER, 79, of Oliver Springs, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at his home. Mr. SEIBER retired in 1979 as a truck driver at the Oak Ridge K-25 Site. He was born in Briceville on Oct. 16, 1920, the son of Henry Edward and Mattie Braden SEIBER. He had lived all his life in this area. Mr. SEIBER was a member of Kellytown Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Armes SEIBER; four daughters, Rosa Lee Lard and her husband, Kenneth, of Cleveland, Tenn., Beatrice Duncan and her husband, Clifford, of Oliver Springs, Dianna Bridges and her husband, David, of Harriman and Patty Fritts and her husband, Dean, of Coalfield; and his son, Billy Fuller and his wife, Judy, of Chattanooga. Mr. SEIBER is also survived by his sister, Florence Duncan of Oliver Springs; two brothers, Dennis SEIBER and his wife, Thelma, and Ralph SEIBER and his wife, Audrey, all of Oliver Springs; and by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is handling arrangements, which were incomplete this morning. ~~~~ March 23, 2000 Donald Lynn SEIBER Former area resident Donald Lynn SEIBER, 40, of Racine, Wis., died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at Lincoln Lutheran Home in Racine following a long illness with brain cancer. Mr. SEIBER was born in Oak Ridge on March 20, 1960. He lived in the New River community of Anderson County and attended Rosedale Elementary School. He was the son of Beacher SEIBER and Helen Faye Phillips SEIBER Lemmon, who are deceased. Before his own illness, his family said he assisted in caring for his parents during their battle with cancer. Mr. SEIBER enjoyed sports, especially the Cleveland Browns and the Tennessee Vols football teams, and since living in Wisconsin, he had become a fan of the Green Bay Packers, his family said. He was also an avid fisherman and loved sprint car racing and gardening. His family said he always enjoyed coming back to Tennessee. He is survived by four sisters, Sharon Stefka and her husband, Mike, and Brenda Sharp and her husband, Ronnie, all of Racine, Janet Tworek and her husband, Peter, of Tinley Park, Ill., and Mary Hoegsted and her husband, Kris, of Union Grove, Wis.; and by his brother, James SEIBER and his wife, Annie, of New Port Richey, Fla. Mr. SEIBER is also survived by his nieces, Jennifer Alfonso and her husband, Erick, of Tampa, Fla., Melissa Ginsberg and her husband, Charlie, of Richmond, Va., and Tara Lynn SEIBER of Phoenix, Ariz.; his nephews, Geoffrey Pfeiffer and Steven Gifford and his wife, Jolene, all of Racine, Eddie Albertson of Arvada, Colo., and Kristopher, Amanda and Samantha Hoegsted, all of Union Grove; his grandnephews, Zackery SEIBER of Richmond and Steven Alexander Gifford of Racine; and by his aunts, uncles and cousins. Mrs. SEIBER was the daughter of Zeb and Bertha Smith, who are deceased, and she was the widow of France SEIBER. She was a Baptist. Smith, 87, of Dayton, Ohio, and a former longtime resident of Coalfield, died Monday, May 29, 2000, in Dayton. Mrs. Smith was born in Algood, Tenn., on Jan. 14, 1913, the daughter of Sib and Ethel Lane Burgess, who are deceased. She lived in Coalfield until 1997, when she moved to Dayton. A homemaker, she was a member of Middle Creek Baptist Church. She was the widow of Elmer Smith. Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Lucille SEIBER of Oliver Springs and June Collier of Elkhart, Ind.; three sons, Howard Smith and his wife, Jean, of Kettering, Ohio, and Elmer Hayes Smith and his wife, Jennifer, and Freddy Smith and his wife, Helen, all of Coalfield; and by 13 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Sib Burgess Jr. of Wartburg, Malcomb Burgess of Dunlap and Mickey Burgess of Texas; and four sisters, Jewell Schroeder of Clinton, Hazel Gouge of Oliver Springs, Beulah Prigmore of Alabama and Melba Schrader of Oak Ridge. Lively, 80, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Lively was born Feb. 2, 1920, in the Fork Mountain community, the son of Lewis and Anna West Lively, who are deceased. He lived in this area all his life. Mr. Lively, an ordained minister who served several area churches, was a member of New Fairview Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Mr. Lively is survived by his daughter, Charlene Patterson and her husband, Fred, of Coalfield; four sons, Willis Ray Lively and his wife, Alice, of Nashville, Roy Lively and his wife, Pam, of Loudon, and James Lively and his wife, Janette, and Glenn Lively and his wife, Diane, all of Oliver Springs. Mrs. Adkins was born March 2, 1938, in Anderson County. She was the daughter of Andy and Miley Aslinger SEIBER and the widow of Virgil L. Adkins. She had lived in this area all of her life. She had worked as the executive housekeeper for Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn in Oak Ridge. Mrs. Adkins was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. She is survived by her sons, Danny Adkins of Oliver Springs, Gary Donny Adkins of Kingston and Steve Adkins of Clinton; her daughters, Diane Cooper and her husband, Michael, of Wartburg and Donna Lively and her husband, Jimmy, of Oliver Springs; her sisters, Bonnie Haney of Clinton, Evaleen Adkins and her husband, Sterling, of Oliver Springs and Aline Hines and her husband, Ernest, of Coalfield; and by her brother, Gene SEIBER and his wife, Peggy, of Oliver Springs. Mr. Foster owned and operated Woody Foster Furniture of Oliver Springs before becoming ill. He was born March 4, 1941, in Cornelia, Ga. He was a longtime resident of this area and a member of Kellytown Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Smith Foster; his daughters, Bonita McAuliffe and her husband, Dan, of Clinton, Chiquita Perry and her husband, Nick, of Oak Ridge and Lynette Foster of Oliver Springs; and by his sons, Leon "Tony" Foster and his wife, Angie, of Knoxville and Woody T. Foster II and his wife, Amanda, of Wartburg. His family said he loved people and that everyone he came in contact with loved him. He also enjoyed working on cars and fishing with his Uncle Gene. Mrs. Burress enjoyed reading and collecting cookbooks, and crocheting. Her family described her as a loving wife and mother. She was born in Anderson County on Sept. 7, 1915, the daughter of John and Martha SEIBER Duncan. Mrs. Burress is survived by her husband of 64 years, Willard K. Burress of Clinton; her daughters, Sandra Burress Foust of Fair View Park, Ohio, and Pamela Sue Burress of Nashport, Ohio; her grandson, E. Gordon Foust II and his wife, Virginia, of Brunswick, Ohio; her great-grandsons, E. Gordon Foust III, Gannon James Foust and Guy Alexander Foust; and by her brother, Mickey Duncan of Clinton. Edna Jones of Clinton was considered a special friend. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Archer Corder officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. She is survived by four daughters, Joyce Leinart, and her husband, James, and Teresa Procise, and her husband, Ricky, all of Briceville, Frankie Fraley, and her husband, Larry, of Lake City, and Kimberly SEIBER of Clinton; one son, William McAlister, and his wife, Bonnie, of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Buddy Tucker of Briceville, and two sisters, Lorene Risden, of Caryville and Naomi Peterson, of St. Petersburg, Fla. The funeral was held Sunday, Nov. 19, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Archie SEIBER officiating. Mrs. Coleman attended First Wesleyan Church in Clinton. She is survived by her daughters, Tosha SEIBER and her husband, Billy, of Oliver Springs; her sons, Joey Smith of New York, N.Y., Benny Dewayne Phillips and his wife, Cathy, of Wartburg and Michael S. Phillips and his wife, Sissy, of Oliver Springs; and by eight grandchildren. Mrs. Coleman is also survived by her mother, Faye Carter of Clinton; her sister, Kay Moore and her husband, James, of Norris; her niece, Shelia Schults and her husband, Kent, of Clinton; her grandniece, Wendey Cornett of Clinton; and by her grandnephew, K.C. Schults of Lake City. Her father, Bill Patterson, and another niece, Paula Gale Moore, died earlier. The obituary archived on the The Oak Ridger website. ~~~~ December 11, 2000 Edward SEIBER Coalfield resident Edward SEIBER, 76, of Coalfield, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. SEIBER was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Hazard, Ky., the son of Sabe SEIBER and Goldie Hoskins SEIBER, who are deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received three Bronze Stars. He had reached the rank of staff sergeant before being discharged. Mr. SEIBER lived for many years in Ypsilanti, Mich., before moving to Tennessee. Before retirement, he owned and operated SEIBER Brothers Construction Co., in Ypsilanti, which he founded in 1948. He had lived in this area for 20 years. He was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Coalfield. Mr. SEIBER is survived by his sons, Jerry SEIBER and his wife, Amy, of Oak Ridge, Tony SEIBER and his wife, Wanda, of Caryville and Gary SEIBER and his wife, Fontainne, of Oliver Springs; his daughter, Elaine Cloud and her husband, Tim, of Ypsilanti; and by 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Van SEIBER of Oliver Springs, Harold SEIBER of Ypsilanti and J.C. SEIBER of Spokane, Wash.; and by his sister, Betty McCarroll of Harriman. Helen Maston of Coalfield was considered a special friend. In addition to his parents, his wife, Minnie Lively SEIBER, died earlier. Two brothers and a sister, Billy SEIBER, Paul SEIBER and Ida Boshears, are also deceased.
