January 22, 1998 George SEIBER George SEIBER, 62, of Lake City, died this morning, Jan. 22, 1998, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. George Ed SEIBER, 62, of Lake City, died Thursday morning, Jan. 22, 1998, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. Rev. SEIBER is survived by his wife, Margaret Wagner SEIBER; two daughters, Linda Green and her husband, Donny, of Lake City, and Susan Hawkins and her husband, William, of Briceville; and four sons, Edward SEIBER and his wife, Darlene, David SEIBER and his wife, Susie, Michael SEIBER and his wife, Jeannie, and Daniel SEIBER, all of Lake City. He is also survived by four sisters, Willie Stephson, Lou Nelson and Allie SEIBER, all of Lake City, and Odell Nichols of Knoxville. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Shultz Hollow Baptist Church with the Rev. Warner Hawkins and the Rev. David White officiating. Burial will follow at Leach Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight, Jan. 23, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City. ~~~~ January 29, 1998 Nadene TACKETT Oliver Springs resident Nadene Tackett, 63, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998. She had lived in Oliver Springs since 1968 and was a member of Beech Fork Baptist Church. She was born Dec. 22, 1934 at Beech Fork in Campbell County. She was the daughter of Jack and Martha Byrge SEIBER of Caryville, by whom she is survived. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Verda and Ronald Muenzer of Oak Ridge and Deloris and Danny Carroll of Oliver Springs; one son and his wife, Allen and Pauline Tackett, of Oliver Springs; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Arie Hatmaker, Ellen and Ray Ivey and Myrtle and Raymond McGhee, all of LaFollette, and Betsy and Elmer Phillips of Jacksboro; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, L.J. SEIBER, of LaFollette, and Wiley and Evelyn SEIBER and Litton and Mary Ruth SEIBER, all of Caryville. A son, Fred Gene Tackett; three brothers, Buddy SEIBER, James Omer SEIBER and Luther SEIBER; and five sisters, an infant who died in 1931, Deloria Mae SEIBER, Gracie SEIBER, Rosie SEIBER and Leatha SEIBER, all died earlier. The funeral was to be held at 11 this morning at Beech Fork Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lee Phillips officiating. Burial was to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Seiber is survived by her husband, Eldridge SEIBER; two daughters, Kathy Coon and her husband, Archie, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Shirley Boles and her husband, Richard, of North Carolina; four sons, Vaughn SEIBER and his wife, Bonnie, Billy SEIBER and his wife, Peggy, and Bobby SEIBER and his wife, Pat, all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Roy Seiber and his wife, Ruth, of Michigan; a sister, Martha SEIBER and her husband, Joe, of Lake City; and a brother, Gilbert Winnie Wilson of Briceville. The funeral was held Saturday night, March 7, at in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Warner Hawkins officiating. A graveside service was held Sunday, March 8, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City. ~~~~ May 4, 1998 Mattie Stringfield JONES Pleasant Grove Baptist member Matilda "Mattie" Stringfield Jones, 90, of Coalfield, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at her home. Mrs. Jones was one of the oldest members of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Coalfield. She was a homemaker and was known by many for her quilting, gardening and cooking. Mrs. Jones was last surviving child of John A. and Nancy Silvey Stringfield. She was the widow of Fred O. Jones, to whom she had been married for 55 years. She is survived by three daughters, Pauline Wilson Walton and her husband, Luther, Margaret Silvey and her husband, T.W., and Roxie SEIBER and her husband, Gene "J.A.", all of Coalfield; three sons, Edgar Jones and his wife, Faye, of Mossy Grove, Johnny Jones and his wife, Sandra, of Fayetteville, W.Va., and Bobby Jones and his wife, Brenda, of Taylor, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Frankie Jones of Coalfield and Ada Jones of Michigan; and a brother-in-law she considered special, Reece A. Jones and his wife, Lynn, of Macomb, Ill. Mrs. Jones is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Daryl Ashley and Vergie Goodman were special friends and caregivers, and Eldon "Skinny" Justice and the Rev. Mack Smith were faithful visitors and friends. A granddaughter, Kathy Lynn, a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Jones, and a son-in-law, J.D. Wilson, died earlier. Several brothers and sisters are also deceased. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield with the Rev. Mack Smith and the Rev. Bill Edmonds officiating. The body may be viewed during the hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Ritter Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is handling arrangements, which were incomplete this morning. ~~~~ June 1, 1998 Arville SEIBER Coalfield truck driver Arville SEIBER, 65, of Coalfield, died Friday morning, May 29, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. SEIBER was employed with PGP Industries of Coalfield. He had been a truck driver for 30 years and had spent 16 years working as a coal miner. He was born in Anderson County on Feb. 19, 1933, the son of Oliver and Nancy Elizabeth Byrge SEIBER, both now deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. SEIBER was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Coalfield. He was also a member of Black Diamond Masonic Lodge No. 625, F&AM. He enjoyed gardening and beekeeping, the family said. He is survived by his wife, Freida J. SEIBER; four daughters, Linda Pride of Oliver Springs, Pamela L. Braden and her husband, Rodney, of Clinton, and Nancy JoAnn Beaver and her husband, Bill, and Julie A. Morgan and her husband, Doug, all of Oak Ridge; and two sons, Larry Arville SEIBER and his wife, Becky, of Oliver Springs, and Daniel R. Daugherty of Coalfield. Mr. SEIBER is also survived by three sisters, Retha Christopher of Crossville, Eva Christopher of Petros and Opal Perkins of Kent, Ohio; and by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A sister and two brothers, Della Bunch, Harvey SEIBER and Andy SEIBER, died earlier. The funeral was held Sunday night, May 31, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield with the Rev. Mr. Prosise was a member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church of Briceville. He was born in Briceville on March 15, 1917, the son of Joe and Nancy Ellen Prosise. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Prosise is survived by his wife, Pauline White Prosise; three daughters, Sharon Nance and her husband, Roger, Becky Wilson and her husband, Abe, and Debbie SEIBER and her husband, J.V., all of Lake City; and four sons, Gary Prosise and his wife, Kathy, and Rickey Prosise and his wife, Theresa, all of Briceville, and Joey Prosise and Michael Prosise, both of Lake City. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruby Phillips of Harriman and Bonnie Vandergriff of Powell; and by 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Three other sisters, Edith Prosise, Reba Smith and Nila Jane Prosise, died earlier. Mrs. Patterson is survived by her husband, James A. Patterson Sr.; two sons, James Patterson Jr. of Quantico, Va., and Donnie Patterson of Devonia; her father, Haskel SEIBER of Wartburg; and five brothers, Donald SEIBER, Obra SEIBER and David SEIBER, all of Wartburg, Cledith SEIBER of Cleveland, Ohio, and Brent SEIBER of Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. Brown was a secretary at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where she had worked for 25 years. She was a native of Oliver Springs and had lived in this area all her life. Mrs. Brown was a member of Beech Park Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. Her hobby was cooking, her family said. She is survived by her mother, Mabel Tinker Davis of Oliver Springs; two daughters, Christy Brown of Harriman and Kimberly SEIBER and her husband, Allen, of Oliver Springs; a grandchild, Allison SEIBER of Oliver Springs; four sisters, Faye Owens and her husband, Don, of Oliver Springs, Betty Cross and Carolyn McKinney and her husband, Arkie, all of Kingston, and Evelyn Daughtery and her husband, Glenn, of Harriman; and two brothers, Jerome Davis and his wife, Kathryn, and Don Davis and his wife, Carolyn, all of Oliver Springs. Mrs. Smith was a member of West Side Baptist Church of Lake City. She was born in McMinn County on Feb. 4, 1946, the daughter of Hugh and Katherine Thurman Green, both now deceased. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, R.C. Smith; three sons, Charles E. Smith, Raymond Bray and Robert L. Smith and his wife, Sheila, all of Lake City; three sisters, Vickie S. Mrs. Farr had worked as a waitress for 13 years. She was born July 27, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio, but had lived in the Roane County area most of her life. Mrs. Farr is survived by three children, Aimee Farr and Anthony L. Farr and his wife, Melony, all of Oliver Springs, and Devin Lenn Cox of Harriman; her grandson, Joseph Dylan Farr of Oliver Springs; her mother, Doris Hardwick and her husband, Dean, of Oliver Springs; two sisters, Julie Conners of Kingston and Darlene SEIBER of Oliver Springs; and two brothers, Carl Back of Crab Orchard and Raleigh E. Mrs. Webb was a member of Friendly Welcome Baptist Church of the Frost Bottom community. A homemaker who enjoyed quilting and gardening, she was described by her family as a loving mother and grandmother who never met a stranger. She was the daughter of Shreldia and Isaac Duncan, who are now deceased. Mrs. Webb is survived by her son, Samuel Eugene Webb and his wife, Glenna Kay; her daughter, Ruby Hazel Webb; and her sister, Dorothy Duncan, all of the Frost Bottom community. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Teddy Lynn Webb, Katherine L. SEIBER, David Bradley Webb, Edward Rodney Lowe, Lisa Renee Robinson and Phillip Gordon Webb; and by 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. SEIBER was retired as a sales clerk with Millers, a former department store in Knoxville. She was the daughter of George and Mary Reed Young and the widow of Fowler SEIBER. She was a Baptist. Mrs. SEIBER is survived by her daughter, Margaret Lodgson of Atlanta, Ga.; her son, Don Seiber of Clinton; and six grandchildren, Lynn, Mark and Roger SEIBER, and Kim, Robin and Mike. She is also survived by three sisters, Georgie Hackworth of the Dutch Valley community, Bonnie Davis of Knoxville and Inez Lane of Clinton; and eight brothers, Jim Young, Walter Young and Albert Young, all of the Dutch Valley community, Roy Young of Decatur, Charlie Young and Kyle Young, both of Clinton, William Young of Oak Ridge and Bailey Young of the Old Dutch Valley community.
