Edward Lee AKINS
PBX truck driver

Edward Lee Akins, 54, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Akins was a truck driver for PBX Trucking in Dakota City, Neb.
He was the son of Charles and Dorothy Akins of Amarillo, Texas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Akins was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Heiskell. His hobbies were camping and fishing. The family said he was a gifted singer and enjoyed country and gospel music.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Phillips Akins; three daughters, Anna Braxton and her husband, John, and Cindy Busey and her husband, Kevin, all of Amarillo, and Tammy Ledford and her husband, Jody, of Jackson, Ga.; his son, Steven
SIEBER of Clinton; grandchildren, Chuck, Mark, Bobbie, Maquita, Jason, Tishia, Junior, Jessie, Denise, Dale, Steven, Shan and Shawn; and his great-granddaughter, Sara.
Mr. Akins is also survived by his sister, Denise Stout and her husband, Lonnie, of Amarillo; two brothers, Thomas R. Akins and his wife, Debra, of Center Point, Texas, and Jay Akins and his wife, Kim, of Amarillo; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Chester and Edna Phillips of Clinton; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Lashley and her husband, Robert, of Atlanta, Ga., and Judy Allen of Oak Ridge; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Phillips and his wife, Susie, of Clinton, and Garry Phillips and his wife, Jeana, of Madisonville; and by several nieces and nephews.
Another daughter, Sara Jane Akins, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Heiskell with the Rev. Joe North officiating.
Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Nov. 27, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

Mabel Gartley WILSON
Former secretary with AEC, ORNL

Mabel Gartley Wilson, 89, a resident of Royal Care Health Center of Harriman and a former resident of Oak Ridge, died Sunday morning, Aug. 27, 2000.
Mrs. Wilson had been in poor health for the past 23 years.
Born May 29, 1911, in Paris, Ill., she was the daughter of John and Bessie Bailey Gartley, now deceased.
Mrs. Wilson was a graduate of Winchester, Ind., High School and attended Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. She moved to Oak Ridge in 1947 and worked as a secretary for the Atomic Energy Commission, a Department of Energy predecessor agency, and at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
She is survived by her sister, Doris G. Reynolds, her niece, Karen R. Sherrod, and her grandniece, Ashley B.
SIEBER, all of Oak Ridge; her nephew, Jon Michael Reynolds of Dallas, Texas; and two grandnephews, Scott Sherrod of Knoxville and Brett Sherrod of Acworth, Ga.
Three brothers, Guy Gartley, Glen Gartley and Jim Gartley, died earlier.
Services will be private. McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
