| May 31, 2002 To Whom It May Concern: It is my pleasure to write this letter of support for Julie Seholm. As part of her internship with Western Washington University, Julie has been an integral part of the School Buddies Program, a collaborative project between Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Washington and the Lynden School District. The School Buddies Program is a school-based-mentoring program that matches high school students in one-on-one relationships with elementary students. Volunteer mentors provide both academic and social supports to their "Little Buddies." Julie stepped into her role with a natural confidence and enthusiasm and quickly learned assigned duties. She was always willing to take the initiative with new tasks and never hesitated to ask for feedback. Julie was responsible for providing support to the volunteers, children and teachers participating in the program, as well as planning the end of the year recognition event. She effectively communicated with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles respecting individual differences and confidentiality. She was organized and effective in tracking and documenting contacts with large numbers of clients. She was perceptive and deomonstrated strong assessment, problem solving and writing skills. Julie has a flexible work style and works well independently and as a member of a team. Her organizational skills and attention to detail were defininte assets in planning large group activities. Julie is confident, mature, motivated and committed. She has a true commitment to children and to her community. Considering her many skills and talents, I have the utmost confidence that she wills succeed in any endeavor she undertakes. She will be an asset to any organization. Sincerely, Linina L.
