Thanks mum and dad!
You worked the butt of you after
the war, to create a wealth in the western industrialized world, not
paralleled no way never in history for such a general mass of people over
such surfaces. You even fixed some first environmental problems, a little bit
each decade. You created the flowerpower generation (I mean
have you tested LSD? – holy shit what stuff), and you nurtured us kids fine. We
went to school had food and were happy (Pac-Man and Bill gates). Now I’ve got
internet, an education, have been taught critical thinking – and we are free
to influence society in the way we want it to go. You’ve got pensions that still
work, not too much crime, even if it’s rising, we might have a less rosy
future in 30 years, so that’s why I want to work to change now. Say, it’s a pity that the wealth
of the industrialized western world still depend so much of post-colonialism behaviour in the rest of the world; resource exploration
(rainforest depletion, mineral mining, palm-tree plantations, cheap labour at unhealthy conditions), foreign diplomatic
pressure (Iraq-war, trade conditions) and fuelling that relationship with a
we-they feeling (we rich ones will be fine as climactic change comes
as CO2 levels rise). Oh, I think I lost track there a
second in my thank you note. Please understand that we only try to build on
your base, and only try to include a larger sphere for a truly sustainable
society (say the whole globe over 500 years?). It
wont stay the same. |
