SONIC 3D

So this is the first 3D outing for sonic on the mega drive and sega saturn. I didn't own the saturn so naturally I got the mega drive version. It was the last mega drive game got before I got the N64. I can tell you that it was some of the worst 3D ever in a game. It was done in squares to apparantly make jumping easier to judge. However I think this was a wrong move and they should have done it like toejam and earl where it is like a top down view like sonic 3D but where you can move around freely in eight directions rather than four. So apart from that what does this game have to offer? I think you'll find very little as you read the review . . .

LEVELS

Now the first three levels are rubbish but then theres the lava zone which is alright. The panic puppet zone and gadget zone are actually pretty much masterpieces as everything is worked out perfectly. However the first five or so levels are so poor it only gets half marks. plus the controls are annoying with the square thing. It's very linear. 5/10

BOSSES

All the bosses are pretty bad until the final boss. Possibly the best sonic boss ever where you keep switching between about 5 old sonic bosses in 3D. This is just one cool boss and this is what gives the slighty better than average mark here 6/10

MUSIC

Well the music playing now is alright isn't it? But thats about it. The last level music which is this music is the only good stuff. The rest is pretty lame 4/10

REPLAYABILITY

Once you've completed it there ain't anything to come back for. If there was super sonic it would be good but getting the emeralds ain't that special. You may come back in a very long time. I've only completed it twice where as other sonic games I have have been completed about ten times. 3/10

TOTAL

It's a lame game. Possibly the worst sonic game to date. You'll play it until you complete it to experience the last boss but the last two levels are the only other thing thats half decent. The latter end of the game is good so thats why it gets an average mark
