So another outing for the spiked one. This time tails can fly. This is one big step forward though because you can get sonic out of trouble in a one player game. Also you can save in this game wich actually isn't all that helpful as it's the shortest sonic game around lifespan wise. And then there's the introduction of knuckles the echidna. You can't play as him but he is a real bad dude who'll do anything for robotnik. So on to the review...

LEVELS

There is only six of em. It may be same as sonic 1 but there are only 2 acts per each one and the design is pretty lame in the first three levels. However the 4th level is fantastic and the 5th level is ice cap zone which could rival starlight in sonic one. The last zone is alright but no great shakes. ice cap zone has got to be one of the coolest zones ever. It's the first ice level in a sonic game and oozes quality. When you get super sonic though the games becomes instantly fun. Sonic 3 is a real mixed bag of levels and it gets this mark purely because of ice cap, otherwise it would be lucky to get one. 7/10

BOSSES

The 1st boss is rubbish and so is the second. The 3rd boss is OK. To be honest the only boss I like is the very last boss. This boss is a pretty class boss and has a few tricks up his sleeve. The last boss is the saving grace of sonic 3's bosses . 6/10

MUSIC

Now that ice cap zone music is the best music ever. It is so good that it makes sonic 3 worth buying just for the ice cap zone because the ice cap zone is just one great zone. The other music is alright and the intro music is better than previous attempts. Also that credit music is somethin to talk about. It rocks!

REPLAYABILITY

The fact that you can play as tails separately and getting super sonic massively increase your enjoyment makes this a pretty replayable game. And once you complete it you can choose whatever level you want. You'll be playing ice cap zone over and over again. The first three levels are the downer here. 8/10

TOTAL

A pretty lazy game. Although sega have been accused of only making half a game her, riddling us of our money. However if it wasn't for this then the next sonic game would never have been created. If anything just buy this game for the sake of the next game. It'll come in handy. . . 7/10
