| This is a shot of my 1st car. This thing is fun to drive, and it will burn "rice eaters" and most new, domestic sports cars without restraint, even though its automatic. It is mostly stock except for the carbs. ('71 round top SUs) hasn't been tuned-up in 20 years! more on that later.... More hisory, info and shots coming soon. |

| Just tuned up (cost me $425 U.S.) still having fuel/ignition related problems, today, I'm going to remove the electric fuel pump, and run a line to the mechanical pump. if that doesn't work I will replace the 30 year old coil with a better one from motorsport auto. later... |
| Well I just got done putting in a new coil and resistor from Autozone (still have the same problem). I'm a little short on money; (I get paid minimum wage ) after having somebody drill out all the thermostat housing bolts and put in new sleeves. They snapped off pretty easy when I tried to take them off. when i removed the so i thought "non-working" electric fuel pump, i found that the problem was it wasn't even wired correctly; so now I have an original '73 electric fuel pump if anybodys interested..., but eh! I still removed it 'cause i didn't feel like taking it in to a shop and spending another $300. I still didn't get rid of my problem!! It will run longer before it starts to studder. |
| Let me tell you about my current problem: When i am driving for about 30 to 40 min. the RPMs go down to about 1,500, and it will start to studder, sounds like i can't get enough gas to the carbs. happens all the time on the freeway. When i floor the pedal it will engage the passing gear, but it doesn't help. when I let off on the gas or shift to 'N' it will run better, infact when in nutral i can rev. all the way to the redline. Than in a few minutes it will run fine again. and sometimes when i take short trips in town; i will park and shut off the engine for maybe 10 to 25 min. and i will restart the engine to go home ( it starts up in les then half a sec.) it start to studder and i put on the choke halfway and force it on the road and it will be ok in a few minutes. i doubt it has anything to do with 'heat' because i put in a 4_row rad, removed the a/c and the smog belt, put in a new fan, fan-clutch and thermostat. the coil is never hot, and the rebuilt '71 carbs are only warm to the touch after a long run. the heat shield is in place and the smog is removed everything else is stock. | I'm going to replace the mechanical fuel pump and see if thats the problem. I don't know when the last time it was replaced! |
| Ok, it's been a while since I've updated. but here goes; i found out that the fuse to the electric pump was buned but still had voltage going through it. so i replaced that and got the pump working again. no more "vapor lock". I still had the 72 su carbs wich couldn't be tuned. I accuired a set of 1970 su carbs, and sent them in to Ztherapy to get rebuilt. i got them back and waited on the MSA order to get in. It was a set of jet coated 6 into 2 headers and twice pipes. i got everything installed by a Bill, at Poway Valley Automotive. he did a great job. then i drove the car(just headers) to Meineke, cause the local muffler shop was booked. The local "rice burner driver's" looked at may car in awe as i pulled into the muffler shop. they were revving up their hundas with the new farter exaust, when i pulled up setting off all the car alarms. they all appeared envyous. I love this car!!!! |
| I'm thinking of getting pertronix ignition. first i need to get rid of the dual point distributer, and get a new nissan single point. I also want a set of 7.5mm STI wires. |

| Well, I need a new rear bumper and a dent puller; not to mention a new paint job. damn' I'm feeling pretty down right now. damn' animals running around on the mountain pass at night.* ............DAMN'IT........... good by virgin 240z.....its time for expensive body work. and i don't make that much money. Why me? This car is the only reason i live. it makes me feel sad every time i look at her. *sniff* |
