I am registered with the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust here in England. Last year I was selected as a potential bone marrow donor and I ma happy to report that so far my donation (to an unknown recipient) has proved successful. I continue to do all I ca
to promote the work of bone marrow donation agencies and your situation will ensure that I urge as many people as possible to register as potential donors.
I sincerely pray that someone, somewhere will be able to perform the same mitzvah that as I was able to and to give you what is effectively a gift of life. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Learned of the drive through Ruth Saltzman who is a third or fourth cousin. She is 82 and I am 46. I am a Bornstein through my mother's side. Her mother was Elka (Alice) Bornstein, sister or Barnard and Abe.. Elka married David Speizman and had 6 childr
n (Morris, Max, George, Betty, Dorothy and my mother Freida) All are deceased except Dorothy who lives in Atlanta Georgia. Morris gained much success in textiles through his business, Speizman Industries, in Charlotte North Carolina.
The family moved from Wilksbury, where they owned textiles, to Central Florida and invested in the Citris Industry. I am more than glad to assist by being tested if you have not yet found a suitable donar. Unfortunately, my sister, Deborah, died a
45 of breast cancer.
Hope a donar is found.
Sincerely,

A few people contacted my family, but unfortunately I do not believe we are related. My grandfather Sam Bornstein, was born in Garwolin, Poland, and came to the U.S.A., after living in Lodz, Poland. He lived in Paterson. His original last name was Bur
ztyn, which was changed when he came to the U.S.A.. My mother is actually from the town of Belchatow and we went over the list of names. Unfortunately we are not related to any of the families nor was my mother familiar with any of those names. There a
e (were) 2 other Bornstein families in Fair Lawn, that came from Paterson. One was Julian and Marge Bornstein, both of whom are no longer alive. Julian's father's name was Max Bornstein and he was from Lodz. Julian Bornstein was a founding member of th
Fair Lawn Jewish Center and we checked with the synagogue, but they were already contacted and Julian Bornstein's family was not related. The other Bornstein family came from Europe after world war II. We also knew of Rabbi Bornstein. Unfortunately I
an not tell you any more about him than your other postings. My mother also contacted the Belchatower society, but has not heard back from them. Good luck with your search and I am sorry that I cannot help you.

When I was growing up in Edison, NJ, there was a family named Bornstein, Holocaust survivors from Poland, whose children went to Hebrew school with me. The father's name may have been Simon, the mother's may have been Phyllis, the daughters (probably now
arried) were Judith and Rose. I now live overseas and cannot contact them for you, but you may want to follow this up as a possible source of donors. Best of luck to you.
Also, my own marrow was typed years ago in the US - I believe for the Alison Atlas marrow search. Are those records still on file? If not, I will have my marrow retyped and reregistered upon my next trip to Israel (I am in an underdeveloped country and ca
not be tested here).

Dear Ada and others,
Although it is sadly true that many of the extended BORNSTAJN family, Jeff's ancestors, were killed in the Holocaust, his great grandparents, Icek Mendel BORNSTAJN (Max) and Hanna (Hinda) HERSHCOWITZ left Lodz, Poland before the war and died in Paterson,
J. They had many children who went to places in the US and Canada. This is only one of the branches of Jeff's family we are seeking. We have already heard from people in this forum as well as at the old guest book site who are connected with this famil
. Many have already agreed to be tested. All those sharing the surnames listed on the webpage are urged to be tested as potential donors. In fact, why not ALL volunteer for this simple blood test? There are many others out there waiting for bone marro
transplants. Thanks, Ada, for all your research and communication aimed at reaching our goal. I'm optimistic that we will.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Shalom,
I am very sad. I think nearly all the potential bone marrow
donors for Jeff Bornstein were killed in Holocaust.
In Chelmno stands a giant monument, near the new memorial monument of
Gombin (my parents' shtetl) - the monument for the 4953 Jewish victims of
Belchatow, murdered by the Germans during WWII, as the rest of the Warthegau
district, in Chelmno, first total extermination camp.
There are also the names of the victims on the monument, on 8
impressive memorial plaques. Usually just the name of the head of
the family. I was there twice. The last time was August this year.
I took a picture of each side of the monument, to capture
all the names - now 8 photographs covering 16 coulmns with names engraved
in Hebrew. I had no idea of Jeff Bornstein when I did that. It was for Roni
Liebowitzh and for his planned web site for shtetl Belchatow.
I posted the 8 pictures with the names (16 columns) and the names I transcribed
from the photographs at my new web page:
http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/4017/belchato/belchato.htm
There are, among the thousands victims, also all Jeff Bornstein's potential
bone marrow donors, Hy"d:
BORENSTEIN Aharon Pinchas and his family
BORENSTEIN Alter and his family
BORENSTEIN David and his family
BORENSTEIN Haim Meir and his family
BORENSTEIN Yeshayahu and his family
HERSZKOWICZ Herszel and his family
LIBERMAN Abraham and family
LIBERMAN Aharon and family
LIBERMAN Henoch and family
LIBERMAN Herszel and family
LIBERMAN Jakob Ber and family
LIBERMAN Jona and family
LIBERMAN Josef Meir and family
LIBERMAN Meir and family
LIBERMAN Moshe and family
LIBERMAN Noach and family
LIBERMAN Pinchas Meir and family
LIBERMAN Szmuel Zwjnweil and family
LICHTENSZTEJN Szalom and family
I take this opportunity to call you all again to check the
Bornstein Web site and see if you are a possible
relative, thus fit to save the life of young Jeff Bornstein:
Thank you, shalom Belchatow...
