Japan Photo Diary, Version 1

(March 29, 2006)

A view of Nagoya from the top of Nagoya Castle.

Nagoya, in my opinion, is an ugly city. Not a bad city necessarily, just ugly.

To make up for this though, the parks are gorgeous.

Magnolias. Mid-March. Take that, Canada!

My room: real futon, real tatami, real sliding doors

(this is before I had many decorations put up).

Most interesting sightseeing so far: Nagoya Castle.

Mmmm . . . swords.

On the left, a reconstructed office from medieval Japan.

On the left, one of the (in)famous dolphins that used to decorate the castle roof.

This is either a root cellar, a tomb, or the darnedest tea ceremony house I've ever heard of.

Other places visited:

Aquarium, Zoo, Tokugawa Museum, contemporary art exhibition, Arabian-themed restaurant.

And finally, a random cat sunning on the pavement.
