Seesawtrace continue their musical photosynthesis, exploring the botanical
nature of sound, now working with vocalist Anee Baker and developing as a trio
within the new six track CD called A Purple Habitat.
The opener Tripletmix paints trip-hop textures, reflecting life contradictions and
duality. DJ Tr!p prunes back a version of Lunchmunchers into his own
electro-glitch awkward smile remix. The shimmering beauty of Fire
Orchids, the lullaby chill of Ice Song, touching at the heart of endings and
new beginnings. The title track A Purple Habitat explores a manga-esque
dream of lasting connections, beats over sound and insects and pollen.
The Entish lament I Choose the Shadow paints a vision through the eyes of a tree
and is organic and earthy.
The cover artwork is beautifully charged up and teaming with life, a piece of art
sustained by energy of its own, feeding on an allergic reaction of sound, nurturing songs that poison.
A Purple Habitat is a musical botany, like a blossoming planthouse, filled with a
deceptive colourful beauty, yet at the same time filled with pollens that can make your eyes boil.
The only remedy is a large dose of antihistamine maybe?
