Golf 1.6 Driver

Here's a short summary of my Golf, actually, I’ve probably missed out a load of things, I’m always forgetting what I did!

Basically this is my first car, and has evolved from the GTI look-a-like Driver model to the mad creation you see below.

Its worth noting that ever since we got our cars we have done nearly all the work to our cars ourselves.  This is most evident on my car with the lairy bodywork! Dave made a good comment:

"I will vouch that Rich is quality at bodywork and painting ....mainly because he's a perfectionist so doesn't stop till the finish is spot on. Although Rich's car takes the personal subjective nature of modifying to the extreme, it definitely draws interest."

Ah, cheers mate! Yeah, I basically spend every minute I can on my car, the reason it’s so modified is that I’ve basically owned it the longest (3 years now) and do things bit by bit when I have the time……..I agree that the paint job isn’t to everyone’s liking, but I love it, and that’s all that matters.

I really have done all the work to it myself (apart from a few mechanical bits and bobs!), I taught myself how to fibreglass, fill, finish, paint, woodwork (for ICE) etc…….it just takes time and you really have to be patient, otherwise you’ll bodge it up, its all in the preparation!

I’m planning to get the interior re-trimmed (bucket seats, doors etc) and the boot lid flushed, as well as convert the existing engine to 2.0L as soon as finances (mainly insurance!) allow……
