Visit Beautiful Whiteville Falls
Cotton Patch Road
Faubourg
B.Cocodrie
Tate Cove
Stears Store
I left the cemtery and went north toward Whiteville. I saw a bridge crossing the Boeuf and took it to Cotton Patch Road which also goes to Whiteville. I shot these two small homes. Farmer's homes, I would suspect.
Ortego's Grocery was still standing. Beside it is its warehouse. The dockless doors suggest a rail connetion or maybe they were just to accomodate trucks.
There is another Ortego Store just north of US.190 west of Opelousas, cousins?
It is also closed.
I headed down Pointe Verte Road. The remnants of a very old sugar mill, possibly, emerged from the "chicken trees". The  pole with the barely visible cables coming from it is a cane crain.
I had been seeing Egrets following tractors all day. Fially I got an easy shot.
Here's an example of birds eating bugs or possibly worms. I go with bugs.
A while back I'd found this road in a search for Bayou Cocodrie. On one of the roads I'd gotten stuck and it was a job getting out of there. Things were dry and again I looked for the road. It is a wonderful little side trip. It goes to the bayou where you can look around. Parish "maintenace" continues the whole way which tells me the road is public although the parishes have been known to maintain private property. Those jobs are not set for bid. Those jobs are not legal.
I know the picture below makes some of you smile. There's the "terrain" part of the ride.
