A New Dawn


a while ago there was a girl
better than any i'd met before
together we shared many moments
lost in love with one another
alas the wheel of time still turns
time flows by as all things change
ending breed but new beginnings
and now is time to start anew
a world that now is long forgotten
is where i now open my eyes
and see with a new hope and thought
a world that greets me like old friends
replacing hope born of despair
with the promise of new adventure
a great rebirth of my short life
taking first steps into the light
the light of a new day
it burrows down into me
deep and far searching into my core
casting away the darkness of my soul
i take a breath of this new air
and feel the warmth of love and fear
