| <Editor's Note> This was a free posting bulliten board attached to the web page of KG High School. Though approved by the Superintendent, and the Publications advisor, this page lasted no more the 3 weeks, due to its opinionated views of the current faculty. Upon seeing the first post, thefaculty members in charge took drastic steps to remove the page, but not before several more letterts were posted. Virtually everything on this page is to the exact kikeness of the origional page. All letters are complete and origional as they apeared for there first posting. My thanks to two friends who put up the fight alongs side of me, and chose to speak. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| An Issue That Concerns Me
An issue of concern is the fact that todays teachers are constantly becoming increasingly inconsistent. Currently high school teachers have drifted away from what authenticates genuine teachers from others of their kind: the ability to inspire their students to do the best they can. Rather, teachers have come to inspire in students a sense of disgust and loathing. They are causing students to dread coming to their classroom because students are recognizing in their teachers an inconsistency; an inconsistency in discipline, attitude, teachers ability to instruct, even inconsistency in the way they manage themselves in the affairs of students. Few teachers instruct students today because they desire to, but in contrast, they instruct because if they fail to do so they will lose their source of income. Teachers inconsistency in discipline ushers the student/teacher relationship in the direction of anger, disgust, and suspicion. As a result, the teacher is no longer an authority demanding respect but a being that prompts rebellion. Todays student has an innate and unique sense of justice that relates directly to themselves. A teacher that tries to reduce a students individuality and lump students into one category will be faced by a class unified in their willingness to disobey. When this happens, whatever ability to instruct the teacher may have possessed is irrelevant, suddenly they have created a body of earless rebels that have lost all respect for that teachers ability. Teachers retaining a love for instructing and guiding are greeted by students who are respectful and willing to learn. However, due to the inconsistency of some teachers; students attitudes are getting bad and becoming worse. The inconsistency of teachers in todays schools has left the system with few students who love to learn. This issue will not be resolved until teachers quit teaching with respect to their pocketbooks and teach with respect for their students. Posted from Archangel November 11 2004 |

| The Archangel Letter has received astounding levels of notice. How ever, we are being asked to give up our right to anonymity. We must all sign our letters with our given names. To do this can implicate us, and then allow hostilities to be enacted through various means by the students and teachers that have been offended by our statements. Also, letters like the arch angel letter have been condemned, and considered unacceptable for this page. This as students is one of the few places that we can speak freely, and without fear of retaliation. I now ask you all to stand with me, stand with me in this struggle for our free speech that has been given to us, and again for the right of privacy. I was told that in cases of "letter to the editor" columns in the newspapers, the comments and actions stated in the published letters are in agreement to the standard views and feelings of that newspaper. Well the comments you have to give me are of the general feelings of this editor. I feel that anyone willing to write their words has earned the right to say it here.
Again I ask your help in this matter. Join with me and our Voices will be heard. Freelancer |

| REBELLION OR OPINION?
A simple expression of opinion, however right that opinion may be, is capable of causing a great variety of emotions. For instance, if a honest person with that scarce urge to speak their mind went up to a fellow human and told them everything that was wrong with their life; job, manners, morals, and even looks, a fight would soon ensue. The insulted party would feel anger, pain, confusion, and many diversely unfavorable emotions. The insulting party may feel as if their pent up self righteousness has been poured onto the ground, there to be absorbed, dispensed, and borne away. However, such a declarer of truth may feel a sense of triumph in a duty performed. An innocent party standing by, may feel (depending upon their attitude toward the above parties) either disgusted surprise or exultant. The disgusted surprise may follow because someone could talk to a fellow human in such an illogical fashion. An exultant feeling would be procured because the insulted party was worthy of such degradation. This wide range of emotion resulting from a simple expression of opinion is an indisputable part of what makes the United States so splendid. In addition, these resulting emotions are the very thing ethnicities everywhere have fought against for ages in their quest for freedom of opinion/press against a tyrant. Knowing this fact when they laid the foundation for an infant nation, our Founding Fathers corrected an excusable oversight (under the circumstances) of the Framers of the Constitution by including a bold declaration of the freedom of press/ opinion in the Bill of Rights. With knowledge pertaining to those persons whose agenda would be thwarted by such freely expressed ideas, our Fathers consequently included protection for those the thwarted would invariably attempt to hinder or even destroy. The Fifth Amendment grants those who would be crushed, the freedom to choose whether or not to disclose information convicting them of what the thwarted would charge them with. With the above statements of fact manifested, the above issue may resound closer to home for those attempting to crack down on truth. No matter what those holding the whip may do they can not stop the expression of ideas among a people completely. With that knowledge, may those with opinionsnot rumors, truthnot lies, please continue to express their ideas even if expression must take place beyond the length of the whip. | Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Amendment V No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. The First amendment gives us the right to say what we will, also it says that this can not be stopped. This is a form of press and therefore cannot be restricted. On a certain level this page has become a virtual assembly of voices, where we can gather our collective thoughts and freely speak about them. Disolving this page would therefore not only be prohibiting the the freedom of speech, but in a sence it is also prohibiting the right of the people to peacably assemble. The Fifth amendment says that we are in no way required to give any form of imformation that may implicate ourselves in any way. If we give our names with our statements, we are in actuality witnessing against ourselves for any teacher or student who feels they have been offended by what we have to say. Finally since most, if not all, of the people who wish to post messages, comments, opinions, or any other letters on this page are students, ( As of yet, the teachers and staff have shown no interest in commenting or countering past messages using this page, at the level of those speaking out.) this raises a certain dillima. Many of you may remember that our school page used to have a link to a page with the student names on them. This page was removed for legal reasons because it placed the children attending this school in a certain place, at a certain time. This could in the end provide means for a student to be kidnapped or worse. Now I may be mistaken, but if we can't have our names on one page of the website, how is it we can have it on another page of the site. Freelancer |

| When a letter to the editor is written to a paper or magazine, the author is allowed to remain anonymous. It's called freedom of speech, it is granted to US citizens through the Declaration of Independence. Now this right does have a limit, you cannot commit slander nor force your opinions on someone. But who decides when a person has crossed the line? Can't an intelligent student editor make the choice? I believe they can. If an editor of a magazine or newspaper is given the power to revise letters to be made appropriate for the public eye, and school is suppose to be getting students ready for the real world, why cant a school's student editor deem a letter appropriate, or inappropriate? I'll tell you why, administrators do not trust their students to make good choices. If these people do not think their own students can make good choices how should the students believe in themselves? Isnt the lack of trust from the administration to the student body showing that the administration does not have faith in what the students have been taught?Administators should stand behind their students and step in only when a major problem occurs. The archangel letter is not a major problem. It does not state the names of students or teachers, so why should it be cut? It is a mere opinion and we as US citizens are given the right to share our opinions. If our way of sharing these opinions, this bulliton board, are taken away, we will find another way. The administration cannot stop us, only have us find a different way to get what we want done. |
