A movie review.

Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius

Hey, I'm a dad now, so I actually take enjoyment from these movies (videos) too.

The Bad
Okay, the story's a bit far fetched.  Remember, it's only a cartoon.  It's aloud to be.   But If you're 12, you might be too cool for this flick.  Go watch
Lord of the Rings or somethin'...

The Good
Sometimes, it's nice to sit through a movie at the theatre and not have to constantly throw some treat, popcorn, or soda at your 3 year old to get him to stay in his seat.  There aren't many shows that achieve this, but Jimmy is one of them.  Bravo.

It just came out on video, and I can't wait to buy it.  There are plenty of jokes for adults to appreciate and plenty of action to hold your toddler's attention.  Unlike the Disney villians, which can leave your little one running from the room, Neutron's foe is humorously threatening.  About as scary as a soft-boiled egg.  Good idea & good fun.

The show has just the right amount of plot, simple enough for the pre-six-year-old to follow.  Moral: Parents might just serve a purpose after all.  The voices are well delivered - especially Jimmy's nerdy sidekick, Carl, and the silly-but-evil alien king, Goobot, ironicly provided by the usually stoic, Patrick Stewart.

Bottom Line
This video will buy you enough time to throw dinner in the oven, fold some laundry, or just watch a quick (80min) show with your little one.  Run (don't walk) to the store!
