Oops... cut off the last sentence.  "... living up to his reputation as a fierce competitor who never gave up!"  or something like that...  Anyway you get the idea.  This is a stand up guy, who also has turned out to be a contributing member of society after his football days.

When I was 5 years old.  I got my first football jersey from my Dad (i think).  We were living in Arlington, Texas at the time (between Dallas & Fort Worth - we lived there until I was 13).  Like most five year olds I didn't know any names of pro players, but every time I went somewhere w/ #12 jersey on, people would have all kinds of cool stuff to say.  Of course most of it went over my head, but I started following the Cowboys after that.  It was a good time to like the 'boys. They competed in the next 3 out of 4 superbowls. The year I turned 7yrs old, they drafted a "slow" halfback from Pittsburgh who also happened to own a Heisman trophy.   They went on to beat the Broncos in the Superbowl following year, and I've been a die-hard Cowboy fan ever since (even during the rebuilding years).  We won't talk about those Pittsburgh Superbowls or Jackie Smith's dropped pass. (just kidding...)
