MULLER RHUBARB CRUMBLE CORNER:
Well, this was promising...a lovely picture of rhubarb on top, but sadly it didn't live up to initial expectations....like so many things...
Full marks for packaging, but let down on further inspection.
Nice custard flavour, and quite good fun adding the crumble bits to the yoghurt, but lacking in good rhubarb-ness. Overall, perhaps 6 out of 10, but total rhubarb score a sad 3 out of 10, so I guess it depends what you're looking for. Crunchy bits were good though...

SAFEWAY LOW-FAT RHUBARB YOGHURT
Well, I should have expected that nothing labelled as "low fat" would live up to expectations...how can they expect us to enjoy food that has had all the good stuff removed? The packaging was uninspiring, with some very unrealistic rhubarb stalks on the lid and was an insipid blue colour. The contents were even worse: watery consistency, too sweet and very little evidence of rhubarb. Manufacturers seem to be under the impression that we are not able to deal with the strength of flavour that makes us love rhubarb so much, and go out to disguise it and remove it from rhubarb products as muh as possible.
A totally dismal 2 out of 10 (and that's being generous). |

SHAPE CUSTARD STYLE RHUBARB YOGHURT
I was pleasantly surprised with this one actually...having been scathing about low-fat products. Packaging was nice, although having SHAPE written in large print was a little off-putting. Don't want people looking into my basket at the supermarket thinking I condone the practice of eating low-fat foods, after all.
Anyway, excellent custard flavour to the yoghurt, although it was perhaps a little bit sweet (and I've got a very sweet tooth), and the best rhubarb so far. This was in the smaller of the "twin-pots" and was basically stewed rhubarb, and it actually looked like it had fruit in it...amazing! A word of caution though, the lid proclaims "added sugar and sweetners", so I suspect that if you were actually trying to cut down on calories it wouldn't be that much use.
I give this one a very surprising 8 out of 10. |
