SED PC Job Description

Support the SED sponsored events by each parish having a representative on the SED PC.

Preferably it is most beneficial if the representative is on the parish PC so that there is communication between the parish and the deanery.

Also an alternate from the Parish PC is to be appointed for the times that the first representative cannot make the meeting.

Over the year most of the members of the SED PC have attended the Archbishop’s Lay Council at least once.  It would be an enlightening and a learning experience for the everyone of the Parish PC members to attend a meeting of the SED PC once a year.

The first duty of the Parish representative to the SED PC is to attend the SED PC meetings.  If the Parish representative cannot make a particular meeting they will ask their alternate to attend the meeting.  If the alternate cannot attend, then they will ask one of the Parish PC members to attend in their place.

The Parish representative to the SED PC makes a report to the parish PC as a standard agenda item at every meeting of the Parish PC (or to the pastor if the Parish has no PC.)

The SED PC member is to work closely with the pastor and under the direction of the pastor to implement deanery values, goals and events.

The benefit for the pastor is that the SED PC member would take responsibility for the implementation and promotion of SED programs so that the pastor is free to focus on other important priorities in his parish.

The SED PC member is like a part time special focus staff person that serves the pastor, an assistant to the pastor to help the pastor with promoting SED events.

The SED PC member would promote events by communicating and coordinating with the people in the parish whom the SED event is intended for.

The SED PC member promotes SED events by:

            Keeping the bulletin editor informed.

By identifying with the pastor persons for whom the event is intended

And then inviting these people personally to the event (phone call, etc.).

By when appropriate, making announcements at mass or making sure that

announcements are on the announcement sheet.

Providing registration and hospitality for SED events.

The SED PC members serves on one of the committees ( hospitality, food, decoration, liturgy, speaker needs) and all the SED PC members help with set-up and clean-up afterward.

On occasion, the priests have asked that the SED PC help with other programs that benefit the SED, for example, the Come Home For Christmas evangelization program.
