Oct. 11, 2008  SED Youth Retreat given by OLLU PROP Team

The 2008 Youth Ministry Resource and Retreat manual's theme this year is:

Our God, the Great I Am

will help our young people know God as

creator, challenger, comforter, and friend.

The sessions are developed so that youth ministry, and catechetical leaders

may address the many salient ways we encounter God through

Scripture, sacraments, the discernment of gifts, in our family and friends,

by serving others, and in the Eucharist.

So this will serve as a good theme for confirmation candidates.

Check on music, it is important to have lively music as the kids are arriving, during lunch and during Mass depending on which parish we have the retreat.

It is very important that the individual confessions be on time at 2 pm to accommodate our priests who are often busy on Saturdays.

Place: the following are checking on their parish: St. Cecilia, St. Benedict, St. Jerome, OLPH.

The first one to get back to me is where we will have this retreat.

Rich Mazzara from the Youth Office gave a wealth of information:

The Youth Office has established a Archd. Youth Council so that youth can minister to youth and advise the directors of the needs of youth today.

Our newspaper, Catholic Today provides a fantastic fund raiser opportunity.  The paper will give you $5.00 for each new subscription and this is renewable each year.

HEB has gift cards.  You get parishioners who shop at HEB to buy the cards and then 4% will go to your parish and 1% to the Archd. Youth Office. Most buy their groceries at HEB. Some parishes are raking in big bucks on this one.
