Released in 1998, Stand By Your Van is the first and only official release of live Sublime material. It is the third posthumous release from Sublime, and their third with major label record company MCA. The songs on SBYV are taken from several different live Sublime shows, all of which can be found on other various Sublime bootleg releases. The majority of the tracks come from a live show at Kommotion in San Francisco, CA.
Stand By Your Van perfectly captures the live energy that Sublime brought to the stage. The crowd is audible in the background, yelling requests, singing along with Bradley, and sometimes singing to fill in the gaps when he forgot the lyrics. All of this never gets in the way of the vocals, however, which come across crisp and clear, and paint a picture of Bradley as a man who loved what he did for a living.
