He found her in his office, curled into a corner, clutching a photo of the five of them.
"Carter…Sam?"
"She wanted to date Daniel."
"What?"
"She was always terrified that he wouldn’t come back, that he’d die and she wouldn’t be able to save him…but he outlived her."
Jack sighed, sitting down next to her. "You mean there would have been lots of little space monkeys running around."
She laughed. "Yeah, but she won’t get the chance now."
"Neither will we if we hang around too long."
She looked at him, a lone tear falling down her cheek.
