Author’s note:
They nervously walked into Hammond’s office, the look on his face worrying them further.
"Colonel O’Neill, Major Carter, please sit down."
They complied, Sam looking down at her hands while Jack looked at a spot just behind Hammond’s head.
"What’s up General?" He asked, trying to keep his voice light.
"You’ve been caught."
Sam sighed; burying her head in her hands as Jack just looked at the General in shock. "We have?"
"Yes. I have tried to explain it away but there is only so much of it I can contest. They have three boxes of proof, and are threatening to use it to remove me from the SGC unless I deal with it officially. I’ve called upon every favour I’m still owed but I’ve used most of them covering up the problem before."
"We’ve been caught before?" Sam looked at him, surprised.
"You don’t honestly think something like this could be kept hidden for long. I haven’t commented on it before as it hasn’t affected your work, but decisions are going to have to be made."
He was disrupted by a knock on the door, it opening to reveal Siler. "General Hammond Sir, may I have a word with you?"
He nodded, signalling for Sam and Jack to stay where they were. "You two think about it." He walked into the briefing room, Siler following, closing the door after them.
Jack turned to her, finding her crying silently.
"We knew it was going to happen one day."
"But we’ve ruined everything, I just think it might have been easier if this had never happened."
"Sam, I’d rather die tomorrow knowing what it felt to love you than live a perfect military life never having met you."
"So…What are we going to do?"
He wiped a tear from her cheek, leaving his hand there. "Whatever it takes."
She nodded, smiling slightly at him and he pulled her into a hug.
Hammond and Siler grinned as they watched through the window.
"Do you really think they’ll make it Sir?"
"I think it’s going to take a lot more than this to split them up."
