Jack groaned as he woke up, reaching around to feel the lump on his head.
He was surrounded by darkness, but as he looked around the room was lit up by what appeared to be Christmas lights, spread around the edge of the room.
The lights dimmed almost as quickly as they appeared, leaving a faint glow in the room, and as his eyes adjusted he could make out another form in the middle of the room.
Crawling across the floor towards it, it didn’t take him long to work out who it was. "Carter?"
She was curled up, rocking backwards and forwards, her eyes glazed. "Beware of the carpet bugs Sir."
"Carpet bugs?"
"They’re plotting, can’t you hear them? I think you stood on their leader, They’re going to get you Sir, make you pay."
He sighed, waving his hand in front of her face in the hope of getting a response. "So help me escape Carter, I know you wouldn’t want them to hurt me."
She looked at him, her eyes blinking quickly as she tried to focus on him. "They are confused as to why you can’t hear them, they want you to dance."
"Dance!" He took a step back, pausing as she giggled slightly. "It’s not funny Carter."
She climbed to her feet, swaying her hips in time with music only she could hear, slowly moving towards him. "Why won’t you dance Jack? That’s all you have to do. They’ve never seen dancing, said that if we dance they’ll let us go."
He walked backwards until he hit the wall, Sam following until she was almost against him. "If they’ve never seen dancing how do they know this isn’t dancing?"
She laughed, "they’re reading our thoughts Jack, they know exactly what you are thinking right now."
He looked at her in shock. "And?"
She leaned closer, "I don’t mind if you kiss me." She leaned closer to him, her lips almost against his.
He pushed her away, moving to stand in the middle of the room.
She pouted, looking down to the floor. "Guess you guys were right, it’s hopeless, he’s never going to do anything about it."
He rolled his eyes, not sure which of them was the craziest, she was talking to carpet bugs but he had refused her advances.
"Carter, how about we make a deal, you get us out of here and as soon as I know you’re not being affected by…. Carpet bugs…. I’ll kiss you."
She broke into a grin, nodding her head excessively. Walking over to the wall she placed her ear against it, walking slowly down the length of the wall.
"What are you doing Carter?"
"There’s a hidden door, I’m trying to see if I can hear people outside so I’ll know where it is."
He shrugged in acceptance, moving to the opposite wall and doing the same, freezing when he heard Daniel’s voice on the other side of the wall. "I can hear Daniel."
She ran over, kicking a stone near the bottom of the wall, causing it to slide open, revealing the shocked faces of Daniel and Teal’c.
"Jack! Sam! We were trying to find you. What happened?"
"I wish I knew Spacemonkey." He turned back to Sam, who hadn’t moved. "Say goodbye to the carpet bugs Carter so that we can leave."
"Carpet bugs?" Teal’c raised his eyebrow, a look of confusion and amusement on his face.
"I think Carter was drugged, apparently there are carpet bugs that can read our thoughts and told her how to escape."
Daniel glanced into the room, looking fascinated but Teal’c grabbed his arm, preventing the archaeologist from entering.
Jack pulled Sam out of the room by the arm, dragging her away as Teal’c did the same with Daniel.
She looked at him, smiling. "So Jack, when do I get my kiss?"
