Author’s note: Just a little one I started a while ago and only just got around to finishing.
She strolls into his office, her hips swaying to the beat in her head.
"Carter?"
She just winks at him, circling his desk once before sitting on the edge of it.
"Jack?"
"What’s going on?"
"I’m not allowed to pay the base commander a social visit?"
He raised an eyebrow. "I don’t mind that, just why now? And don’t respond with another question."
She pouted, collapsing into the chair opposite him. "I’m bored."
"We all are Carter…. Wait, you’re bored? How is that possible, I mean you’ve got all those doohickeys and experiments and stuff."
"The computer’s running an experiment on one of the devices from the last mission. I can’t complete any more work on it until it’s done, and it makes the most awful squeaking noise so I couldn’t work on anything else."
"So you came to see me?"
"Yep. I can go though if you are busy, I was planning on stopping by the commissary anyway, it’s chocolate cake day."
He grinned. "Chocolate cake? I think I can be tempted out of this pile of reports for some of that. Mind if I join you Carter?"
"You go ahead. I’ve already had a few pieces, Teal’c finished off my stash of chocolate so that was the closest thing I could find. Do you have any music? We could dance instead."
He stared at her in confusion. "You were going to get chocolate cake but don't want to if I am?"
"I was going to get chocolate cake to console myself over you kicking me out. As you didn't I don't have to. And I don't really want to go back, Doctor Lee keeps drooling over me."
"Ok, so we stay here." Jack was sure he could make the president understand why protecting Carter from drooling scientists was so much more important than report reading.
"Music?"
He shook his head sadly. "No music."
She sighed, "no chocolate, no music, lots of boredom, what a horrible day."
"How about if we went out for dinner tonight. You could have a nice big chocolate desert and we could dance after."
She grinned. "Really?"
"Yep."
"It's a date." She jumped out of the chair. "I should go sort out that experiment, I had originally planned to be working on it all night, now I have much better plans." Winking at him she strolled back out of his office, humming quietly.
He leaned back in his chair, suddenly finding the reports very interesting, the sooner he got through these, the sooner she'd be dancing in his arms.
