~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Yes, indeed was the face Doggish. No mistaking the lack of unhairried skin, nor that of the slight muzzle-like protrusion at the mouth. Yet it was a Doggish face like none seen before in this House of Lords. Always before Doggish faces had seemed to most like that of a friendly Norse man with chew in both lips, yet today the Lords thought they saw differences. The fangs that previously had kindly protruded from beneath the upper lip, were now seen as fierce and dangerous, a symbol of what beasts and barbarians the Doggainians truly were. The smaller eyes, which once had been seen as a gentle feature now appeared as shifty and villainous. The noble bearing of the Dogg's head, was not interpreted as a look of arrogance and malice. Indeed, so changed where the Lords' perceptions that even the Doggainians' defenders looked fearfully at this face. Sadly this fear may all to soon prove to be well earned...a self-fulfilling prophecy if you will. Not in the near future nor even for certain, but if events continued down this course, one of Queen Beth's greatest allies could same day rise against not her, but her people. Never would The Living Giver allow harm to befall on the Queen, for once entered into a deal, a Dogg never backed from it. It was the greatest fault and most dangerous weakness of the Dogg, they were, as a race, far too Loyal for their own good. They would defend the Queen in the way best known to them unless the Queen herself broke the Treaty that held them together. Yet, behind that face its owner knew too well that he could neither convince the Lords of their own folly, nor could he prove his loyalty. In fact, by proving himself loyal to the Queen, he may seal her doom. For the Queen would not remain untouched if not she was faithful to the Doggainian cause. Already shadows were looming over her ability to govern, and rumors of Doggainian control of her were abundant. Still, all was not yet lost. There remained five things yet that could occur. Each no more likely to happen than the others, and all likely to fail. Yet they would be done. The Living Giver would have stopped to pray at this point, had he not the unfortunate predicament of being a god himself...in a land where few believed in him and thus his power was depleted. This would be not a fair fight, but then neither had he expected it to be so. When dealing with demons who pretended to be men, and cowards who dared to think themselves brave the odds were never fair. The Living Giver's options ran through his mind one-by-one.
Cleo; the closest thing to child El Perro had left behind in this world. Already The Living Giver had realized his folly in that regard. Cleo should have been placed inside Seska. The feelingless queen of the undead would have been far greater affected by emotions, not just of happiness but of love. Drax's heart was too black for even Cleo, who's happiness was rooted deep in the power of love, to break through. But Seska, her heart had long since decayed with the rest of her body, perhaps her absence would have given Cleo the chance to plant a bit of good, no matter how small, inside her being.
Dogg Lord: Drax had committed a potentially fatal blunder in besting the Dogg Lord. No one, not even Flash had ever done such a thing. Dogg Lord was not of the kind who would easily forget such an occurrence. Time would tell how dangerous a foe the Dogg Lord could become. Armed as he was with Chaos, the Dogg Lord was not a person to be treated lightly.
The Silver Lady: Merged as he was with Summoner, the Living Giver new the instant when his bride had be restored to her former glory. Not a wise move for anyone. She could be an asset to him if he could "arrange" for her to receive information that Drax was, contrary to belief and even fact, a rival god. Yes, that could work out quite well, if only it was plausible. More romantic notions...
There was, of course, a fourth idea, but it would be ludicrous to imagine it working. No, not even with the help of long dead heroes would it work. Besides the ploy was so old that Drax must have encountered it several if not thousands of times in the course his existence. Yet, sometimes it is the obvious that we fail to see until the moment it becomes too late..........
All this was in The Living Giver's mind as the doors before him opened. And yet surrender never crossed his mind. He had vowed to Queen Beth to protect her from all threats, and that he would regardless of personal cost. He could not return home, not for a very long time. The mages of Yapap, led by Scottie [sadly now the man behind him has sent word of his retirement] Archmage of Doggainia had finally succeeded in making a spell that could not be broken except through the will of three, separate gods. And until that time, Doggainia would be unreachable by magical or physical means. In essence, Doggainia now truly does operate on a different plane. By doing so, The Living Giver had finally made his made himself, and those few who would find themselves standing besides himself alone and forced to deal with the situation with what resources they had here, in the Dragon Court. Some would call this foolish, but the Living Giver called it honourble. He would not, like Gerrod before him, make his stand with the lives of innocents who would be hailed as martyrs. This was no longer a simple quest to keep peace, no...Drax had pushed The Living Giver past that point of no return. Now it was personal, for Drax had taken from him the most precious thing he possessed. Leave the peace for Rothman, the three Sons of Gerrod, Drak and the others to enforce. As for The Living Giver, he would do what he must, but his quest would be that of vengeance. For, never again could The Lady Regent be his. The experiences that had brought them together and made their love were now forgotten for all times. Without her earthly experience, The Silver Lady could not be tamed, nor again would she again be capable, or even worthy, of love. Indeed, The Living Giver had no reason to fail and every reason to continue his stand against Drax.
It was in this state of mind, as his motives were changing from that of the common good, to personal that The Living Giver spoke.*
"Lords, Ladies, and Others...*'Others' was punctuated by a glare at Drax* There are those amoungst you who fear my kind, very well. Then as I am not a native of this land, I was only given this title as Regent out of generousity. It represents the work of many years of building up relations with your kind. But I shall give it back freely onto thee who despise me. I need not a title that is in name only. By making me a regent the Queen had hoped to force the lot of you to accept me as an equal. You have not, so this title of 'Regent' which should demand respect is now just a sham. So freely to I give it up, though painfully as well. To Lord Drax, however, also do I SAY THIS!!!" *The Living Giver ripped a glove from his right hand and threw at the feet of Drax. The chants for "blood" suddenly stopped and the room became deathly still as the Lords' realized that always rule-bound Regent, had broken a rule. Prior this they had assumed him inhuman, but incapable of violence, at least not direct violence, but all present knew only one meaning could be meant by the brown leather glove now laying innocently at Drax's feet. In a way they were right, The Living Giver could not directly attack Drax, but he could act in self-defense, and as rules of the challenge dictate, the one who is challenged always begins the actual fighting. In this manner, could The Living Giver back up his challenge. "I will protect these Lords here from their own folly. So to shall I defend all those who seek to undo, ungrateful and spiteful though they might be. And when I have done so, that glove before now stuck to the ground at your feet, unmovable by any means, will be made free. And pick it up shall you, or forever be branded a coward and a fool. Then, when all that shall come to pass has occurred, we shall stand before all, and with neither regret nor anticipation shall we settle ourselves of all debts against the other. If or both of fail to make through the events of the future, then we shall settle our debts in the Nether Regions, in front of the eyes of Death, whom no person, immortal or not, can escape when they are turned upon him. These are my promises. I go now, but I shall return." *The Living Giver vanishes in flash sound and booming light.*
