The Ten (Wedding Planning) Commandments

This appeared in IAM4UK's bio and is absolutely worth sharing. Thanks to her for this wonderful document. Read and heed!

  1. Thou shalt not second guess thy choices once they are made. Move on whether its your dress or your invitations or the type of flowers for a bouquet. Your sanity is much more important!! Second quessing whether or not to get married, however, is a whole other story...:)

  2. Get up on the morning of your wedding day and tell yourself: If things do not go exactly as planned today, there is nothing I cant handle. But Im ready to have the time of my life and savor every moment!!

  3. Get a massage the morning of the wedding. It will relax and calm you. Definitely worth every penny!

  4. If you are not hung up on superstitions (and you dont have a huge time gap between your ceremony and reception), get your photographs taken before the ceremony. Arrange to have a special moment to see your soon-to-be-husband for the first time. It was one of the most emotional and moving moments in my life, and it was still unbelievable to see him waiting for me at the end of the aisle at the ceremony.

  5. Your wedding party consists of your friends and loved ones who support you. Dont treat them like servants. Dont separate them from their spouses and dates at dinner. Dont keep them from the reception by having tons of pictures taken. They have worn the garments you chose for them, spent extra time and money grooming themselves, and possibly travel/hotel/babysitting accommodations in order to support you on your special day. Let them enjoy the reception, they have earned it!!

  6. In lieu of, or in addition to, the receiving line, consider stopping by each table and talking to your guests. It is more personable, and we really enjoyed the opportunity to chat one-on-one with people.

  7. Ivory shirts...white shirts...who cares??

  8. At least a week before the wedding, compile a DETAILED timeline of the weekend for yourself, the wedding party, and your vendors. It will keep everything running smoothly.

  9. Repeat #2 to yourself if anything doesnt go exactly as planned.

  10. Enjoy, enjoy, enoy!! It is truly YOUR day, so eat that food, drink that champagne, get out and dance and SMILE! It warms a guests heart to see you happy, radiant, newly married couple totally in love with each other.
