El Salvador

In 1995, San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador became my home for a year. It was just coming out of civil war and I had been contacted by an existing Christian radio station to come and assist them. Fortunately God provided me with several good friends. My life there was challenging, never had a stove or fridge OR furniture, but what a training ground it was for me.

On January 13, 2001 a 7.4 earthquake hit Central America and it was centered off the southwestern coast of El Salvador. In some areas whole villages were destroyed and in others neighborhoods fell completely apart.

In February and March, I had the priviledge of going to El Salvador with donations for earthquake victims. With the contacts made years back, pastors and missionaries, I easily networked to go into country areas and work with children and give toys, clothes, shoes and food. In the city of Santa Tecla just outside the capital, a tent city to accomodate 10,000 people was erected on a soccer field. I put together a team of 6 people to go in and work with children there, with the favor of God we were given permission to enter and set up wherever we wanted to. It was a great blessing.

Following are photos from those outreaches.
