Issue #2: Redshirt
Policy
A player who does not play any
games during a season can be declared a ‘redshirt.’ He then gets one (bonus) roll (6-sided die) in one
improvement area during that summer. If that player is redshirted in
a year he was promised to start, then he gets no bonus roll.
A medical redshirt gets no bonus
roll, unless directed in the injury envelope. If he is injured between
the December games and the start of the SEC season (i.e., midseason envelopes),
he can redshirt and become eligible the following Jan 1st (for the start of SEC
play).
A player who is academically
ineligible and does not play any games during a season can get a 5th
year of eligibility (but no bonus improvements). The NCAA’s “5 Year Rule” allows a player 5 years to complete his
4 years of basketball.
