Mid-Season 2007 Envelopes
This recent Saturday night,
the Envelopes were randomly picked and opened in no particular order.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope- State Being post 9/11, airport security is a real hassle now. Especially for
picked Freshman Bo Moseley. A bag in his possession contains contraband
marijuana, felony amounts of Vitalize, and various drug paraphernalia. Bo
is cuffed and lead out of the airport to a waiting police car. A
supplemental Envelope states the bag belongs to the worst upperclassman TM'er, Horace DuBree. Bo was holding the bag as part of a team ritual. Bo
will miss the first SEC game. But a roll will indicate what will finally
become of this conflict between these two teammates. Rolling 10, others players
come forward and tell Buster Coombs the truth. Buster handles it by going to
the police with this information. DuBree is suspended
for the season. Another roll must be made next summer to see if DuBree can come back.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope- Florida - After a home football game during campus visits for a number of
major recruits, current players and recruits talk...about promised playing
time. Different players with different promises react the same way: Antone Bruce transfers immediately (within the conference
to Kentucky) and Dushawn Barnette
will transfer later (also within the conference). An Energy Roll can be used to
prevent Barnette's transfer, but Florida Coach Gary Caplan hasn't indicated he'll do this.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope- Kentucky- Just a month before Signing Day, a new assistant coach joins the
Kentucky staff. Because of his late start, he hasn't established relationships
with any of the current recruits. Instead, he takes on a new recruit: a 4th key
recruit. On a recruit not yet declared as a key. Consider it a free, bonus, 3-key. Nick Ward is this
player.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope- Ole Miss- Take one free retroactive insurance
roll from the past summer's rolls. This was used on Johnny Quarles'
defense: rolled 2 for a slight improvement after the original roll of 1.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope- Tennessee- Picking a starter, Pekka Taavi
is the one who tears his patella tendon during practice on Christmas Eve. He's
out for the year. He gets full improvement rolls next summer, but loses 3
points in all improvement totals.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope- Auburn- Pick a TM'er. No effect because there are
none. If there was, he would have been dating D'Aquarius
McDaniels' mother, along with other SEC notables.
Depending on Academic Ratings, there is potential for worsening
effects.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope- LSU-
The Governor has a keen eye for the talents of PG Sean Robinson, a recruit
with no SEC scholarship offers. It turns out Robinson can use a 20-sided die
for improvements his first two years, then a 12-sided die his last two years.
(No insurance or energies on these rolls.) But The Governor must be
discreet. He must sign Robinson before anyone else recognizes this potential talent.
If he is not signed, Robinson still gets these bonuses for anyone who does sign
him. The Governor gets his man, a great sub for fellow-Freshman Hollis
Watts.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope-Georgia- The top recruit from Georgia, Ben Hurdt, moves
to Washington state. His father is being transferred
by his employer, KaneOil. This move is made for
legitimate employment reasons. However, Hurdt is
upset and vows to return to the South for his college ball. He eliminates all
non-SEC teams from consideration. Any program from the state of Georgia
maintains region on him, but
loses home during his
recruitment. Georgia Coach David Maxfield eventually
signs Ben Hurdt.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope- Vanderbilt- Picking the youngest starter, Duwaine Hale
is that player, one the Vandy coaching staff feels
has great potential. Extra personal attention is given to Hale during
practice development. He responds. Choosing two
areas to work on, he gets a bonus roll in each, one now and one this
summer. 1st - rolled 4 for offense. The 2nd -
later this summer.
Mid-Season 2007
Envelope- Bama- Are there players who understood they would be starting by now
but are not? If so, they will not transfer, but they WILL tell all recruits
from their home state to be careful believing Bama
Coach Bradley Maxfield's promises. Impact could be
dropped by one year if so. But Ralph Grundy is the only player
involved, and Bama has no interest in any recruits
from Tennessee. No effect.
