NUTRABAITS

Our view on all this is that practically all good quality food products used within their shelf life and at sensible levels do not cause any problems whatsoever. In saying that, we do accept that inferior quality, out of date products could, if used heavily on the same water, cause long term health problems. We strongly advise you to buy your bait from a reputable source and use your common sense! If someone offers you a bag of fishmeal or a bottle of fish oil from the back of his car, at a ludicrously cheap price, ask yourself why? Might it be because it is drastically inferior to the 'same named' products sold by your reputable bait company? Don't think he can do it because the bait companies are in the habit of putting ridiculous mark-ups on the very same gear. I can assure you they are not.

Another point worth considering is that the leading bait companies like ourselves, Nashbait, Mainline, Streamselect, Essential Baits and Rod Hutchinson to name but a few, have a much faster turnover of stock, so individual products should always be fresher

Nutrabaits do, however, welcome any investigation that will further the carp world's overall bait knowledge and as such we fully support the research being organised by the Carp Society.

You will remember at the Carp Society Winter Conference/ AGM back in November 1994 that a reaction from the bait companies was called for. It was Bill Cottam who took the initiative, stood up and offered £1000 to set the ball rolling. Obviously such an investigation would not be cheap. As you can see, we take our position in the carp world very seriously indeed.

Let's hope everybody else does likewise.
