GROUNDBAIT
Groundbait is made of different kinds of natural ingredients such as bread crumb, hemp, walnut flour and so on. Before use it is moistened with water so that one can form balls of it, just like snowballs in the winter. When you use groundbait you throw it into water at the place where you plan to fish and after a while the fish arrive. They're attracted to the smell and visual effects (cloud in water) from groundbait and then you just bait your hook and throw it in front of them and lift all the fish up (well, actually it is not that simple as you probably know). The picture on the left shows a close-up of ready-to-use groundbait and on the right Marcel van den Eynde, maker of van den Eynde groundbaits, prepares to throw in his balls of groundbait during prebaiting. He has his pole set up so that he can use its tip as a marker and aimingspot for throwing the balls. When fishing longer distances groundbait can be thrown in, if you are good enough thrower, or then it can be catapulted into the right spot.
