SHIMANO AERO 8010 GT and others

Over the years the Shimano has built up quite a name for its self but with no doubt there most famous product is there baitrunner which many companies have tried to copy but these imitations just don't have the same build quality and performance. The big worry I had when buying mine was the fact that a friend had some Diawa Regale x's whose spools had the tendency to carry on churning if a fish stopped suddenly leaving my friend in a terrible tangle only for the fish to often start running again thank fully the shimano's do not suffer from the same problem . The baitrunner, in case you didn't know, is a feature of the reel which allows the spool to run freely by simply flicking a switch when a fish picks up the bait one turn of the reel handle with engage the drag.

As I said the Shimano Baitrunner is the best freespool reel available and the GT's are the very best. Models in this range are the 5010GT, 6010GT and the 8010GT, the main difference in these models is the size and the amount of line they can hold.

The reason for the GT's success is the list of features which include 6 ball bearings, dyna balance system which decreases reel wobble and increases smoothness and balance, aero system which is a specially designed spool and the aero wrap system which gives improved line lay, double handle which makes the reel a lot easier to grab on to for that vital wind to disengage the baitrunner and many other features which sets this reel in a league of its own, oh and the most important feature of all the baitrunner of course.

After owning two 8010GT's for around a year and a half I have had no problems what so ever except for a small scratch, which isn't surprising the amount testing they have had.
