History: A ship of the second world war
ORP BLYSKAWICA
The Polish Neval destroyer ORP Blyskawica departed Gdynia Poland on Tuesday, August 30, 1939 at 2:15 PM. Upon her departure from the Oksywie neval port in Gdynia, the ship started Operation Peking which directed selected Polish Navy ships to sail for England in case of war with Nazi Germany. This was the beginging of a distiguished history of one of Poland`s celebrated naval ships. On the bridge with Captain Wlodzimierz Kodrebski, was Petty Officer Stefan P. Wesolowski, the ships`s signalist, who sent a message to the Polish Navy and Poland: SZCZESC BOZE CHWALE OJCZYZNY. |
