Sailor and Zoe here. We knew we were in for trouble when Mom got up this morning after the windy night and made herself a cup of coffee with the high octane stuff, she calls it, mixed in with her usual low-lead. She's done this before. I told Zoe to sit back, hang on, and watch out! Mom went out to the newly washed station wagon with a bottle in one hand and a white rag in the other. She opened up the back, sat in the dog seat, and disappeared behind a wall of nose prints. Pretty soon we could see the rag waving at us. Miraculously, the more it waved, the more of Mom we could see. She appeared only to disappear again in the back seat. The same thing happened. There she wasn't, then there she was. I call it the Waving Miracle. Mom probably calls it Surrender. When she came in, she said she must have looked a little like painting with water in those coloring books her children had when they were little. I kept expecting her to disappear again, but she said that nose prints don't last too long inside the house, just in the car. She stayed appeared. Then she put Zoe outside in the dog run and invited me to jump into the car. I jumped in. I looked out the window. I could see! I waved the white tip of my tail. I wonder if I looked the same as Mom disappearing and reappearing, but Zoe couldn't see me to tell so I guess I'll never know if I made a Waving Miracle or not. We drove to the dreaded DogWash. Aaack! Actually, I don't mind the DogWash; I get Mom all to myself and everyone in the building comes and says how handsome I am. Then I get cookies from the sales people and get to sniff a few butts. When we got home, Zoe said, "BAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You had to go to the DogWash!! Too bad for you. Go roll in the gorilla hair." Mom was very clever and had gorilla hair put down on top of the dirt in the back yard. She calls it mulch and says that gorilla hair is really a misnomer. It should be called monkey fur since gorillas have black hair and their hair is fur, not hair. Jeesh. Sometimes Mom is SO pedantic! Then Mom left me in the outside to contemplate gorilla hair and took Zoe in the car. Zoe dewclawed her nose at me, saying, "Nyah nyah. I get to do something FUN!" and off they drove. When they came home, Zoe smelled exactly like the DogWash and was damp. It took the rest of the day for her to get gruntled. Heh heh, Sailor the beautiful and Zoe the, well, the Zoe |
