Sailor here.
Yesterday Mom went to San Francisco to meet her daughter and shop for a Mother of the Bride dress. Neither Katy nor Mom was very excited because shopping is not their favorite thing. But guess what? Mom came home with a dress, a pair of shoes...and ZOE!!! Zoe was really excited to be here again, but that's not surprising because Zoe is a really excited dog. Maybe that's why her fur flies out of her body with great regularity.
Anyway, Zoe spent the night, and this morning on our walk we had another wild time. As we were walking more or less sedately ByMySide, this creature ducked from underneath the bushes and ran into the road. Zoe had never seen anything like it. I explained it was a Cluckawk and not good for much of anything except eating bugs. Zoe was thrilled. I was fascinated. The Cluckawk was loud. Zoe said it smelled like lunch and wanted to eat it; I wanted to get it off the street where it may be flattened. Flat Cluckawks are not much fun. Zoe kept jumping around saying chase, chase, kill, eat!! I was A LOT better than that and still pretty much ByMySide, but kept muttering herd, herd, herd. Clearly, we were of two minds. And then there was Mom, the third mind: ByMySide, Keep Walking, Let's Go, Oops Trip.
Zoe pulled so hard at her leash she exhausted herself. Mom says that she herself got a great upper body workout. It's a good thing Zoe was wearing her Halti and that it was clipped to her collar, too. With just a collar on, Zoe may have started to Cluckawk, too!
After this, our walk degenerated into a leash tangle free-for-all until Mom stopped, made us both sit for a LONG time and we all caught our collective breaths. Mom said that this was a very unusual Cluckawk because its feathers looked like fur. She hopes it is not there tomorrow.
