Many of us did complete many fine RECCE "missions" where we did capture
the life and times, the people and culture, of SOUTHEAST ASIA,
the smiling faces of - ol SIAM [THAILAND].

Some of our Brothers, they too were captured.
Many have NOT RETURNED from their LAST MISSION yet !!!

Believe me MR.,
"WE are EXPERIENCED, DAMN EXPERIENCED GENTLEMEN"

I never mixed my RECCE "missions" with my "other missions"
- at times, those being a "fly over" SUZIE,, er, MS. WONG that is,
some, I imagine did.


I preferred to travel "light" and not "lose" the equipment
(replacement was expensive on this "YOUNG" 2 striper's pay),
- my mind was on "MY MISSION" !!!

PLEASE NOTE:

NOT EVERY "MAK SWAY POOYING"

was named "SUZIE WONG".


There WERE/ARE many FINE, intelligent, and decent THAI women,
many do have LONG, HAPPY relationships with both active/ex GIs and civilians in general.

Yes, some, unfortunately, became the WIDOWS of our LOST BROTHERS !!!


This page is NOT INTENDED to degrade, or demean THAI or ASIAN WOMEN,
or ANY WOMAN for that matter.

Even many SUZIES, not necessarily all, but I assume most, were "forced" by the
ecomomics, the circumstances of a WAR, that was ravaging their homelands.
Forced into providing for themseleves, and their families -
those aging parents, brothers and sisters, the babysons, all too many
"without" a FATHER present !!!


The kindness, grace and natural beauty of these petite and gentle women is something
most of us will - NEVER FORGET !!!

Some, however broke OUR hearts, and many times WE theirs. Many a GI had to leave his teelok,
perhaps even his young AMERASIAN family behind, upon orders to return to CONUS "unaccompanied"
[usually after their tour of duty lasting a "minimum" of 12 months] !!!

Some of us managed to bring our loved ones home, not always being completely excepted by
family, old friends, or community - NEVER quite HOME !!!


For many, yet another "BATTLE" to be fought, on the HOME FRONT,

- STRESSORS from an unpopular WAR, a war LOOST [through NO FAULT of "our" own],

- STRESSORS from wanting to FEEL "WELCOMED BACK HOME"
- with or without our Asian mate,

- the loss of the joys of YOUTH, of what INNNOCENSE we may ALL have had
- BEFORE, that is, BEFORE OUR SO MANY MISSIIONS !!!

- GUILT, ANGER, FRUSTRATION, CONFUSION

- CULTURE SHOCK [recession, - NO or LOW payying jobs
- NO way to SUPPORT a family]

- some of us won, many of us "have" LOST on the HOME FRONT !!!

I, myself may NEVER be able to close the many chapters of my time in SEA,

of that "return home", oh yes, with my Asian wife - "Chi Krup" - with my Thai teelok !!!

This is yet just another ASPECT of WAR, I'm told.


There were the ANTIWAR cries being shouted from the streets of AMERICA
during the WAR in Southeast Asia.

MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR !!!

Many of us in SEA were doing BOTH, not that BOTH were always a CHOICE.

We were "DOING OUR JOBS" - the fight for FREEDOM, FREEDOM for ALL !!!
