Keri, Erin, Starla, Valentina, and I decided to take a weekend trip back to Scotland, but this time to Glasgow. So off we went once again running for trains. First, we got to Liverpool Lime Street and found that our train had been cancelled. Thankfully we were able to get on another train and off we went. We managed to finally arrive in Glasgow after a VERY, VERY, VERY long trip on the train arriving very late into the station. Starla, Keri, and I doodled on our take-away box from the terrace caf and amused ourselves by inspecting our money. Yes we were amused. It doesnt take much sometimes!! So anyway, we enjoyed our train ride and the kilts (two very good looking guys in kilts decided to walk back and forth to the toilet, no complaints by me). |

So we stood and waited to see if we could find the Woods (one of the two families that were kind enough to put us up for the weekend) anywhere, when Rev. Wood, the District Superintendent (of the Naz church North District here) comes up to us and asks, are you all Carl McCanns fan club? so we all laugh and agree to it, then follow him to his wife and cars. Starla, Erin, and Valentina went Mrs. Wood to their house for the night and Keri and I get in with Rev. Woods to head to the second house. We stayed with a retired schoolteacher named Beth. Such a sweet lady!! We got there and Beth showed us where everything was in the kitchen and assured us that we were to make ourselves at home and to get anything if we needed it. (She is just precious!) Later that evening just as Keri and I were headed to bed we got in to a laughing fit, over who knows what, except I vagly remember something about the Pilsbury Dough Boy. So after we calmed down a bit, we wiped away tears and went to get ready for bed. |

Keri and I decided to pose with our good friend Bob the Bruce. I am afraid we just didn't have the stance for it though. This was after our hike up to the castle of Stirling. What a hike! But it was all worth it when we saw the beautiful sight the CASTLE!! This picture was taken when we had just entered the castle. The British Red-Coat Soldier was more then willing to have his picture taken with us. After watching a demonstration he gave we ran into him again and he recommended a few places to see so the five of us decided to split up and so Keri and I did a little exploring. Found some great little corners and dungons to explore. We also found the kitchen areas which was set up with clay figures and so we jumped in to be part of the display and daily happenings. Can you pick us out? Keri was plucking the chicken (good job) and I was putting out the loaves of bread. Very fun, except the one boy was getting yelled at for dropping a pail of milk (but of course he was going to drop it.. he didn't have a hand.) |

Before our treck to the caslte we had an adventure in climbing the hill to the canons and beheading stone! Keri decided to slide down the hill instead of walks and this is here account. "This time I slid. I laughed at myself, stood up and realized there was a bit of a draft. Id ripped a big hole in my jeans. My FAVORITE Old Navy jeans. I wasnt happy. Well, not exactly happy. I was still laughing. But frustrated at the same time. So, walking behind everyone, we went over to Tesco. I had thought it was strange earlier that Tesco was advertised in the tourist map and they even had clothes! Of course, that was very interesting to me at this point, so we went. And I found a pair of |

jeans that I actually liked and were on sale. So I bought them and went to change." We got Keri all set and had some lunch and good laughs! (Of course we all had Kindersurprises as a treat) |

From the castle we then went to Argyll Hall, which is a historical house. It was very beautifuly set up. After this we headed back to Glasgow on the train. Which again started yet another adventure. We had to find the correct bus stop to catch our bus (which we knew) but it ended up to be quite the walk in circles and some help by locals who commented They sent you off without a guide?? Id be right cross if you were my daughters! and pointed us in the right direction,we found the |

bus stop and then headed to get something to eat. After tea we then got on the bus and tried to explain to the driver where we needed to get off. Thankfully (God is great, such blessings he bestoyed on us this weekend) a lady overheard us and asked where we were going. As we explained it she said she knew were it was because her pastor lives there (Paster Woods) and so to our surprise being one in the same she helped us find our way! So we got home safe and sound and had fireworks to watch later that night while sitting in the living room. When we got back to Beth's we had a chat over tea and Kit Kats. Laughed about the difference in language when talking about a favorite dish of biscuits and gravy. (cookies and meat gravy here, doesn't sound as good, does it.) I must admit when I think of Biscuits and Gravy it doesn't sound as good to me now either. Guess that shows that I have been here too long. The day was nice but long and while waiting for Keri to take a shower to watch a movie, I feel asleep. Sorry Keri - "I didn't mean to honest, I really did wanna watch a movie!!" Keri and I got up to go to church the next morning at the Nazerene church in Glasgow. Very good service although we came in late, with all our stuff, I think we made a sceene, but we found seats and enjoyed the service. We met some really great people and all God blessings. Gareth was introduced to us, just arriving back from the US because of VISA problems, and was such an inspiration, because God was leading him, but he isn't quite sure where yet! Just nice to see that God takes people half way around the world and your not sure why, but there are other people just the same and it isn't just you. |
