The Durgafilms Project is a collection of cinema collages made from scraps of old films.

Internet is teaming with endless footage from the over one hundred years of cinema's prolific history: newsreels, documentaries, educational films, industrial films, dramas, comedies and commercials. This is like the magic attic of a mysterious palace, where we can take out the ancient, forgotten costumes and try them on at no cost and without any respect for their chronology, nor for their original purpose and with them disguise ourselves in any way we please. The harmonious juxtaposition of moving images, dialog and music, combining elements which were never intended to coexist together creates an infinity of unimagined ambiguities and meanings. The poetic possibilities are endless. Think how much the surrealists would have loved this opportunity!
