This model was sent in 1984 July as substitute of the Seat 127/Fura although used the platform of Ronda. It was designed by Giugiaro and, at first, it counted on the gasoline motors Porsche System (1,2 liters of 63 CV and 1,5 liters of 85 CV) and the diesel engine of Fiat origin (1,7 liters and 55 CV). They were possible to be combined with finished L, GL and GLX. It was a project of Giugiaro for Seat that never arrived at the series.

                        


    In September of 1986 Ibiza Junior with the motor of 903 appeared cm3 and 44 CV (the same one of the 127, Panda and Marbella). The following month the body arrived from 5 doors and in January of 1988 it appeared Ibiza SXI with the motor of 1,5 liters fed by electronic injection. They were 100 CV those that moved to this Sport Ibiza. At the end of that same year remodel the interior, with new instrument panel, improving finished inner and the ergonomics. Also there were modifications of equipment. The outside remained without changes until March of 1991, when Ibiza New Style appeared. In the Hall Frankfurt of September of 1991 the one appeared that has been the most powerful Ibiza of this first generation: the Sport Line (later called Sport to droughts). One moved thanks to a 1675 motor cm3 with injection and 105 CV. Although the majority vehicle in the Olympic fleet of Barcelona ' 92 was Toledo, around half hundred of Ibiza the sport material transport of and Olympic equipment were used along with for the Volkswagen Caravelle and Seat Terra. Taking advantage of the occasion, Seat on sale put a special series moved by the motors of 63 and 85 CV: Olympic Ibiza. In December of 1992, due to the obligatory implantation in Spain of the catalyst in the gasoline motors, Seat on sale put the catalyzed motors of injection of 70 and 92 CV with finished the Friend. In April of 1993 the manufacture of this model stopped. New Ibiza nothing else did not conserve that the aesthetic name and some resources (in fact, also it was designed by Giugiaro). The chain of production of the old model was in disuse until an Iranian company was interested in it to continue the production in that Arab country (I do not know if this got to be made, but the production continues in China). As it notices peculiar Ibiza east was able to be leader of sales in Spain in its last month of life to thanks to the generous discounts that were made to eliminate the Stock.
