This site dedicated to
information on how to
help save the
rainforests.
I have also included
tidbits about endangered
species and more. Our
rainforests are being
destroyed every second.
A rainforest is the most
complex and diverse
ecosystem on earth.
Covering only seven
percent of the earths
land surface,
rainforests are home to
more than two thirds of
the world plant and
animal species.

Rainforests play an
invaluable role in
sustaining life on
Earth.
Extending from the
colder climates of
Alaska and Chile to the
tropics of South
America, Africa and
Asia, rainforests
provide a critical
habitat for many of the
Earth's plant and animal
species.
Although people often
don't realize it,
rainforests also play an
important role in
sustaining life outside
the rainforest by
regulating the global
climate and the water
cycle, absorbing carbon
dioxide from the
atmosphere, and
providing us with
medicines, food, and
more.

Here in our country,
the last remaining
rainforest
in Hawaii,
is now threatened with
extinction.

The U.S. National Cancer
Institute has identified
3000 plants that are
active against cancer
cells. 70% of these
plants are found in the
rainforest.

Seven things YOU can do
to help save the
rainforests --

"The Great Spirit is in
all things, he is in the
air we breathe. The
Great Spirit is our
Father, but the Earth is
our Mother. She
nourishes us, that which
we put into the ground
she returns to
us...."*Big
Thunder(Bedagi)(Wabanaki
Algonquin)*

"There are many things
to be shared with the
Four Colors of humanity
in our common destiny as
one with our Mother the
Earth. It is this
sharing that must be
considered with great
care by the Elders and
the medicine people who
carry the Sacred Trusts,
so that no harm may come
to people through
ignorance and misuse of
these powerful forces."

Annual Meetings of the
Traditional Elders
Circle, 1980-
