| Kendo : A Japanese martial art and sport based on Japanese swordsmanship. When translated from Japanese to English literally means, " The way of the Sword ". Kendo Bogu : Bogu is the armor people who practice kendo wear when sparring. Fencing Foil : This is the thin sword used in European Fencing. The tip is flat. Bokken : A wooden sword fashioned after a Katana used to practice sword forms. Shinai : Large bamboo sword used by Kendoists to spar. Place holder Katana : A cheap stainless steel blade that looks like a Katana used for hanging on walls. Katana : A two-handed Japanese sword, single edged with a slight curve. Carried in the belt edge up. Iaito Blade : The Iaido is fashoined after a Katana, commonly made of a zinc/alluminum alloy to practice sword forms. Not used for cutting Iaido : The term " Iaido " means : The Japanese art of drawing the sword and striking with one, fatal strike, and quickly resheathing the sword. |
