It's hard to see from this but the right side goes up and up and gets steeper as it goes.. this is the flat bottom. It took me almost a half hour of sliding, jumping and praying to get to the bottom with myself and fishing gear intact.
My exploring later that day took me up the stream to the bogs where it starts and a nice cutback trail back to the top. /sigh
This stream is near the top of Crater Lake. The snows create a bog further up from this picture here that feeds it year round.

Pictured here is about the last of the free flowing part of the stream before it turns into moving pools and squishy bogs.

Crater Lake has no inflowing water. All the snows feed the lake and the surrounding streams. The debate continues weather or not the fish of crater lake came from an underground flow through the mountain from something like this or if they were transplanted by native indians.

I saw a documentry later on about crater lake. This stream was featured in it showing how parts of it were reformed to accomidate native fish they were trying to get to live in it.
For the record I ended the day with no fish from this spot, but did get some nice pictures.
Water flows all around Crater Lake. You don't go far without the sounds of falls like this one travelling to your ears. Streams and water moving is a constant theme no matter where you are around the rim of the lake.
