Seaside Beach Trip Journal
As told by Dustin (All real or perceived inaccuracies are completely the fault of the author, but of course he will take no responsibility so eat me.
Day One: Our trip takes place around March from the 25th to the 28th of 2002. It started out with me and Cedrec going to the bank to allow me to get some money out. However, the bank was closed, so we went to a nearby gas station to get some snacks. By then, the bank was open, and we got our money. When we got back home, we realized we left our drinks at the bank (note: a week after we got back, I went to the bank and they had our drinks there. They kept them, oddly enough.). Anyway, we got back home and the others had arrived and the others were there waiting for us. My mom left for the hotel, and we stopped off at a Texaco near my house to get some (more) snacks. Giovanny needed air in his wheels (theres always something wrong with his Kia) so we got that, then bought the snacks, then we were on our way to Seaside! With me, Cedrec and Chiem Ay in my Bronco and Giovanny, Andus, Hun and Guanqiu in Giovannys Kia, we sped off on the highway towards the best four days of our lives. It wasnt long before we started to question which way was the right way, and by guessing we chose the right roads most of the time. Once we ended up at a church, but we found the highway and were back on the right track. Soon we saw a road sign that said Seaside 90(around) miles and we were celebrating at the sight (Seaside yeah!). We stopped for a piss break on the side of the road a while later and then continued on. Soon we hit a sharp turn which led us the wrong way, so we pulled over, discussed what happened, then turned around and went the right way. We entered Seaside and started looking for the hotel we were staying at. We started at the wrong end of Seaside, but eventually we found it. When we got there, our hotel wasn't quite ready, so we put a little basketball hoop on my car and played with that until our room was ready (about 1 o'clock). Our hotel was right next to the managers room, which wasnt what we had wanted, but it was a room, nevertheless. We got our stuff moved in then decided what to do next. I dont remember exactly what we did after that, but we planned on a barbecue near a big log we found near our hotel so we headed for Safeway. We started looking for food, but it soon became apparent we all had different ideas. We started arguing over which food we wanted to get, and some people (nameless heh) actually got mad, even though some of us just thought it was kind of funny. Anyway we ended up getting a couple roasted chickens and a salad and some drinks, among small other things I cant remember. We went back to our hotel to lay out for the night and put our chickens in the oven. We set up DDR and played that for a while. Then some people wanted to go swimming. Im not a big fan of water, so I stayed in. After the swimming, some girls apparently went out in the pool, and flashed us, although I never saw a thing. When that whole ordeal calmed down, it was nighttime and we took our food out to the big log and started a fire in a pit near it. It was cold that night, so we didnt really leave the fire until we needed more wood. Who knows how we got there, but conversations started about stuff like dicks and pussies and such. Very interesting. When everyone wanted to go back, me and Chiem Ay stayed a bit longer. Eventually we pretty much lost the battle with trying to keep the fire going and we started walking along the beach. We ended up in Seaside and went around looking for places that were open. We played games at the arcade for a bit, and then found the Golden Horse restaurant. We bought some noodles that werent the best, but it was something to do. When that was over, we walked back to the hotel, only to find that those idiots had left the key in the door (after I told them to guard that key with their life). So me and Chiem decided to see what they would do when they figured out they lost the key. We took it and got in my car to go cruising. We were about to pull into a Safeway when a cop pulled us over. He said my lights didnt work. I told him it was hard to see my lights were out when the whole street was lit up by street lights. However, being the stupid Asian that he was, he still gave me a ticket, which still pisses me off today, so we just went back to the hotel (I was thinking about starting the Korean-Chinese war, but hes a cop, what could I do except get another ticket). So we got back and the others were watching Meet the Parents, which was a funny movie. After that we got bored and went in a room to mess around. We played some poker, 13, and whatever else, and by then it was around 3 or so, and we were tired from the trip, so we went to sleep.
Day Two: We woke up (obviously) and decided to go and shop. First off though, we went to get breakfast at the Golden Horse, where you could get full plates for 3 or 4 dollars, what a steal! After that we went around to all the stores and even got to borrow some stuff we didnt plan on returning. We went and messed around in the arcades as well and got some elephant ears. I cant believe that took the whole day, but I cant remember doing anything else. I think we went down driving on the sand on a beach Giovanny and them had found. That was fun because you could peel your tires all you wanted and not hurt them. I also chased after a seagull in my all powerful Bronco. That night, the radio station 95.5 was holding a dance there, so we decided wed go to that. Let me tell you, if youre not into dancing, its not a good idea to go to those things. Anyway we just stood around most the time, eventually finding a pool table and playing on that. I would have done better if I didnt do so horrible. They had a break-dance battle later on that I faced off with another guy with. This guy was horrible and I should have won hands down, but of course, like any competition with the audience as a judge, it was a popularity contest, and since I didnt know anyone there, and he knew everyone, he won. I wanted those tickets! After that was over, we played some more pool, then that guy I battled against and his friends asked me and Cedrec to do some freestyle breaking with them, so we said sure why not. The party ended, and as we went out, I saw Giovanny asking some guys about alcohol and such. We went to get the cars, but as we returned there was a fight going on (I missed a lot of it). It was pretty good what I saw, but then someone said the police were coming so we scrambled. We went back to our hotel and learned that Giovanny and Cedrec had picked up a girl and took her home. Well after that we decided to go back down to the beach we were driving on earlier and mess around. We tried building a fire, but the wind was so strong that didnt work, so we just got back in our cars. We were thinking about staying there the night and watching the sun rise, but I thought it was a little risky, the tide and everything, and it wasnt comfortable for the people sitting in the backs of the cars. We stayed there a while longer then decided to head back. Giovannys car wouldnt turn on though, and thats when the fun started. People suggested jumper cables, but seeing as how nobody was exactly sure how to place them, I wasnt going to let a guess blow up both our cars. So I said why not do the old push the car and let go of the clutch trick? We tried that and bam, we got it to start (so dont diss my ideas so much). So we watch Gio drive around for a while to get his battery charged up again, and then he comes to a stop, gets out of his car, and comes over to report that hes stuck. Oh great. So we find some pieces of wood that we were going to use for the fire that didnt work, went over and tried to put them under his car so he could back out on them. I started looking around, and jumped down into this big pit (the reason Gio slammed his breaks on and swerved) to get a log that was down there and to my surprise it had water in the very bottom (not piss Cedrec you bum haha). Well that just about froze me. Cold water on your pants combined with a strong wind does not make one feel warm. Anyway after that I was ready to call it quits. I suggested we dig the sand out to make it level with the car wheels so it would be easier for the wheels to get on the wood (yes that was my idea). That worked, and Gios car was off and running. We celebrated, because that took quite a while. By the time we had finished with all that I think it was around 4:30 or so, and if memory serves me right, we could see the sun rising vaguely. Maybe not though. So we left there, never to return again, and stopped at a gas station to buy some food for when we got back. When we did get back, we ate what we bought, and planned to stay up all night, but that didnt happen. People started going to sleep around 5, I got to sleep around 6:30 or 7:30, cant exactly remember. That was probably the best day.
Day Three: This day started around 9 oclock or so. Giovanny and me were the first ones to wake up, and since nobody else would wake up, we went to the Golden Horse for breakfast. When we returned people were starting to wake up. I actually cant remember what really happened this day. I think we went back into Seaside and bought some more stuff. Guanqiu and them stole hacky sacks and sacking it was what we did a lot of the day. Then somehow it became night and we were hungry, so we found a lobster restaurant to eat at. None of us ordered lobster though, if I remember right. The meal was pretty good. After we ate we went back to the hotel. Some of us wanted to go out one last time before we had to leave, but Andus and Hun didnt want to go, so we left them at the hotel. We went back to where we got stuck (ok so I guess we did go back there) and tried to light a bonfire one last time. This time though, the winds were really strong. Cedrec poured all the gas we had left on it, then lit it, and it went up in one big poof of fire. Soon after it died, we threw the gas can in the fire, and it blew up shortly after, which was cool. Well that whole thing was short lived, because we went back shortly after, due to the fire dying and the strong cold winds. When we got back, we walked in on Andus and Hun watching GAY BLACK PORN. This was really disturbing despite the laughter that was filling the room. I took pictures of it but I dont think I have them anymore. I didnt know they could be so big. After that the $4000 sex dolls came on. That was weird. Anyway after that it was around 2 oclock and we needed sleep cause next day we would have to go back. I went to bed, I dont know what happened with everyone or when they went to bed.
Day Four: Today was a sad day. We started packing early as we had to be out of the hotel by 11 I believe. After we packed and turned in the keys (by the way, they never got nervous that they lost the key, you bastards), we went back into Seaside one last time to do some last minute shopping. It was funny because no one actually bought anything this time, people just took stuff. I have a conscience like a rock, so if I stole anything, it would live with me the rest of my life so I didnt take a thing. After we were done we went to the front of Seaside where they have the turn around and the ocean is just right there. We played hacky sack for a while and some people even tried to get in on it. At one point we tried to throw the sack under cars to get it to loosen up, but they kept missing it, it was funny though (go go go OHhhhh, they missed..). Eventually we got someone to run over it, although it didnt help too much. We played that a bit, then went down on the sand and tossed the sack around for a while before going to the water. We played dodge the water for a while, then proceeded to make sand obscenities. Guanqiu and Cedrec made a toilet so they could pee, and me and the rest of us made a naked woman to be stupid. Andus put a dick on it that bum haha. It was funny to watch people walk by the thing. Guanqiu and Cedrec actually took a piss in their toilet, and we laughed super hard so we could attract people to look at them. It was fun. After that we finally had to leave, so we got in our cars and started heading for home. On the way, a really good restaurant came into view, so we pulled into it. Nobody had any money though, so no one could buy the good stuff. The waitress came around numerous times, probably around 4, before we were ready to order, and what we did order was a couple of cheese sandwiches, a order of fries and a bowl of clam chowder (OoO yea!). The water tasted like matches, so we ran out to get some fruit punch we had left over from earlier. Guanqiu and me chugged our glasses of match water down and then enjoyed glasses of fruit punch. I hope next time we can actually buy the better food. After that was over (we did leave a tip, I bet she was surprised), we headed for Guanqius house, and hanged there for a while, mostly playing hacky sack. When it got dark, I took Cedrec home, then went home myself. Those were probably the best 4 days weve ever had. Nobody will ever forget that beach trip during Reynolds spring break. Thank you.
Miscellaneous: On the way to the beach, we maxed out the speed in my Bronco (up to around 85 MPH or so). So fast! The first day when we were shopping, we wanted to buy pots and pans to cook things in, but decided against it. Later on, we discovered they had pots and pans in our hotel room. Cedrec and Guanqiu were having wars with my whoopee cushion to see who could let the air out the slowest and still have a little sound coming out of it. I forget who won, but they got high times around 1:25 or something. When we went to the arcade once, this guy started talking to Andus and them. On the last day, he found us again and was bugging us when we wanted to jump off the wall thing at the beach. One night at the arcade, some little kids were messing with Andus and he said some bad stuff to them I can't remember. Also that night, we threw our hacky sack at the camera in the arcade to change its position, maybe to play hacky sack without getting noticed. One of the days (2nd I think) we played the miniature putt-putt golf game they had, and Chiem Ay hit the ball in the nose and got a free game. Then we played the bumper cars. The LAST day we were there, the day we had to leave, was the warmest and sunniest day. Freakin' luck...
