                                     "So Much To Sea"

Nova Scotia is a Maritime province located on the east coast of Canada. It is rich in natural beauty, brimming with down-home hospitality and steeped in history, legends and folklore. It is a picturesque peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by thousands of miles of coastline, ranging from white sand beaches, to rugged rocky shores, to sculpted red mud flats that boast the highest tides in the world. Nova Scotia is a diverse panorama of spectacular scenery, including the breathtaking highlands of Cape Breton, the "moon rock" landscape of Peggy's Cove and the expansive cliffs of Joggins and Parrsboro that house prehistoric fossils dating back billions of years, to name a few.

For the history buff, you will be fascinated by the glimpses of Nova Scotia's past, from the impressive authentically restored and inhabited fortress of Louisbourg, to the simplicity of the quaint fishing villages and unspoiled heritage farms. From the bustling city night life to the the serene pastoral countryside, Nova Scotia has something for everyone. Whether you are partial to mouth-watering Digby scallops, Cape Breton Island deep sea lobster, delectably sweet "Peaches and Cream" corn from the Annapolis Valley, or luscious Oxford blueberries bursting with flavour, Nova Scotia offers an abundance of fresh seafood and local produce, as well as, dulse (dried seaweed) and our pure maple syrup. The latter delicacy is collected from the sugar maple tree in the early spring, when the days are warm and the nights are still frosty. You can visit the "sugar shacks", where the sap is boiled until it thickens into the tasty syrup that you can sample.

Nova Scotia has four distinct seasons, each with its own attributes. Winters are crisp and cold, and the region is like a wonderland, covered with a blanket of sparkling white snow and shimmering icicles. For an exhilarating experience, try our numerous winter sports, or you can go for a relaxing sleigh ride, snuggled under a warm blanket. Spring is a time of rejuvenation, when the birds return to build their nests, trees explode with new buds, and flowers bloom in a wide array of colours, some even peeking up through the last vestiges of snow. In summer, the temperature is hot and the land is lush and green. There are hundreds of activities, limited only by your imagination. In the fall, you can visit the "Pumpkin People" in the Annapolis Valley, where some of the largest pumpkins in the world are grown. Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons, when the trees are ablaze with vibrant colours of bright reds, oranges and yellows, mixed with more subdued shades of plum, gold and russet. No matter what your interests, Nova Scotia has it all!

Popular Cruise Ship Passenger Tours

Keep in mind that tours can be tailored to meet your specific requirements. For instance, many clients have asked where they can find foods that are native to Nova Scotia, such as "Solomon Gundy" and our delicious lobster rolls. Other interests have included boarding "Bluenose II" (replica of the original schooner that won many world races in the 1920's), seeing the tidal bores and the highest tides in the world, rock hounding and fossil hunting, and viewing our forests when the autumn leaves are in full colour. During your time here in Nova Scotia, whatever you would like to see and do can be worked into the schedule.

The grand tour is a spectacular seven hour excursion, usually starting at 9:00 a.m. It begins with a drive around the capital city of Halifax, viewing historic Citadel Hill, Halifax Harbour, architecture dating back to 1789, as well as, the scars left by the 1917 explosion, the gravesites of the "Titanic" passengers, and the Public Gardens, which is one of the few remaining original Victorian gardens. An amazing sight that is still evident is the destruction wreaked by Hurricane Juan in the fall of 2003.

From the city, you will travel Route 333, which is a snapshot journey of the Atlantic Canada seacoast. This road winds through the original remains of ice age glacial deposits, creating amazing formations. We will stop along the way at the world-renowned fishing village of Peggy's Cove, which is a unique and breathtaking habitat.

The drive then continues on to Lunenburg, which is one of the more colourful towns of Nova Scotia. While here, you may relax and have lunch at one of the many seaside restaurants. There will be time to visit the live fish exhibit at the marine museum or tour the "Bluenose II", if it happens to be dockside. Lunenburg is a place with its own history and culture, and is a UNESCO designated world heritage site.

At this point, there is the option to spend more time in Lunenburg, and return along the picturesque Lighthouse Route. This road follows the shoreline and passes through communities like Mahone Bay and Chester, each with its own character and charm. This full tour will have you back in Halifax by 4:00 p.m., which allows plenty of time for cruise ship passengers to meet their 5:00 p.m. departure.

You may pick and choose any one, or all, of the above trips, or create your own itinerary. Please feel free to call or send an e-mail for questions, special requests or prices. For your convenience, payment may be made using Visa or American Express.
