| WAS JESUS GOD? Jesus (PBUH) was a Prophet. (Matthew 21:11) And the multitude said "This is Jesus the Prophet of Nazareth of Galilee." (Luke 24:19:) And they said unto him "Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people." A prophet can never be God, but a human being. Jesus (PBUH) preached the One-ness of God. (Mark 10:18) And Jesus said unto him "Why do you call me good? There is none good but One, that is God" Jesus (PBUH) cried for God's help. (Matthew 27:46) And about ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice; saying "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say "My God, my God, why have You left me?" After crucifixion, Jesus cried in a loud voice, called God that why He has left him alone to die. And for example if Jesus was really God by himself, then why he cried for his life's sake? Why did he ask God's help? Jesus (PBUH) fled from fear. (Matthew 12:14-15) Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him (Jesus), how they might destroy him. But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence; and great multitudes followed him; and he healed them all. When Jews planned to kill Jesus, he fled fearing his death! Jesus (PBUH) prayed God to save him from Crucifixion. (Matthew 26:39) And he went little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; neverthless not as I will, but as thou wilt." (Matthew 26:42) He (Jesus) went away again the second time, and prayed, saying "O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done." (Matthew 26:44) And he left them, and went away again, and prayed third time, saying the same words. Jesus (PBUH) continuously prayed three times to God, asking Him "let this cup pass from me", which means let the death (crucifixion) keep away from Jesus. (Mark 14:35) And he (Jesus) went forward a little, and fell on ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. In the above verses, Mark has given a clearer meaning than Matthew, and is easily understandable. God never fears, neither He prays to any other. Jesus (PBUH) confesses the Supremacy of God. (John 5:30) I can of mine own self do nothing; as I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. (John 7:16-17) Jesus answered them, and said "My doctrine is not mine, but His who sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." Jesus (PBUH) prayed God. (Mark 1:35) And in the morning, rising up a great while before the day, he (Jesus) went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there he prayed. God never prays to any other! Jesus (PBUH) was Son of Man. (Matthew 16:13) When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying "Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?" (Matthew 17:9) And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying "Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead." (Matthew 17:22-23) And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them "The Son of Man shall be betrayed into hands of men. And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry." Son of Man can never be God. Jesus Wondered. (Luke 7:9) Now when Jesus heard this, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the crowd that was following him "I say to you, not in Israel I found such great faith." God never wonders on the people, because He knows everything. Only a human wonders or marvels because of his limits of knowledge. Jesus was tested by the devil. (Matthew 4:1) Then Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (See also Mark 1:12; Luke 4:1-2) If Jesus was really God then how could a Spirit sends him to a devil to be tested by him? |
