World Culture Studies Project Directions
These are required:
1. Choose a country (you may choose any country except Mexico, Kenya, Japan, and the United States).
2. Research information on the country using the research writing sheets.
3. Write the research information neatly and completely on the appropriate lines of the writing sheets. Proofread your work. Points will be taken off for errors.
4. Find pictures about the country and add them at the end of the research report.
5. Label the pictures so we know what they are.
6. Include a map of the country. (Map may be computer generated.)
7. Place the completed research writing sheets and the pictures into a 1/2”-1” binder.
8. Decorate the cover of the binder. Include the name of the country and your name on the cover also.
9. Design the country’s flag on standard (8 ½ x11”) plain white paper. Color the flag neatly.
Choose one of these two projects:
10. Construct a model of a famous landmark of the country. Please keep the model to a manageable size (no larger than the top of your desk). On an index card provide some factual information about the landmark.
or
11. Prepare a food that is native to the country. Make enough food for everyone in the class to have a taste. Turn in a recipe card with the ingredients and directions for preparing your food.
During the week of the project presentations, be prepared to do the following:
• Sign up for a day to share your
project.
• Prepare and memorize a short speech that you will give in front of
the classroom. You will have a cue card to fill out with all the information
to include in your speech
• Locate your country on the World Map in the classroom.
• Share your food or landmark.

Country selection due: Friday, February 6
First page of research due: Monday, March 2
Second page of research due: Friday, March 20
Third page of research due: Thursday, April 9
Fourth page of research due: Thursday, April 30
Binder (complete with research sheets, pictures, and map) due: Friday, May 8
Cue card due: Friday, May 8
Flag of country due: Wednesday, May 13
