Journal Writing

Dear Third Grade families:

This year in third grade your child will experience journal writing. Journal writing gives your child an opportunity to practice their communication skills through written form.

The students will be keeping their journal writing in a composition book. The teachers will monitor the journal writing to make sure the students are staying on track with their writing. Individual writing conferences will be held with students when teachers notice consistent writing problems. At the end of the school year your child will bring home their journal to share with you.

We hope your child will enjoy their journal writing experience. It is a great way for the students to expand their ability to express their thoughts in writing, to begin to proofread their own writing, and to increase their vocabulary and spelling skills.
